Nehru snooped upon key Bose family members : Declassified IB files

The Prime Minister's Office has refused to declassify secret files relating to Netaji arguing that the "disclosure would prejudicially affect relations with foreign countries."

So? anyway the PMO is now Modi's so ask him.

Sound explanation .But BJP too with clear majority is hesitant to release the files today, isn't?
That's exactly where i have got problems with the present BJP leadership. Why on earth are they not releasing those classified files! What may be the probable motive behind this cover up made by the BJP leadership:hitwall:!Netaji might have been a Bengali by birth but he was THE undisputed leader of the masses unlike that old hag Nehru. So it's our right as the citizens of this country to know about the fate of Netaji but the reality is that we might never know what happened to our beloved leader:coffee:.

Have you gone through it?This was an excellent book with intricate details on the mystery, the various inconsistencies of eye witness accounts of the plane crash. Highly recommended for any Netaji admirer.
A similar type of book in this matter is the "Back from dead inside the subhas bose mystery" written by eminent journalist Mr.Anuj Dhar. You will find many interesting facts regarding Netaji's alleged disappearance in this book.Mr.Dhar has done quite a bit of research in this subject and he has given some strong evidences that definitely nullifies the claim of his alleged "death" on that fateful plane crash in present day Taiwan

West Bengal IB declassified Netaji files in 2011-12 | Zee News

New Delhi: Files relating to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose lying with West Bengal Intelligence Bureau were handed over in 2011-12 to National Archives Department, which made them available to public for research in December last year.

The files of the West Bengal Intelligence Bureau, which has been rechristened as Criminal Intelligence Department (CID) now, were declassified by the state government, according to the National Archives.

These files were declassified after the UPA government made public reports of Mukherjee Commission and Khosla Commission, which probed the death of the freedom fighter.

The classified reports were marked to Intelligence Bureau officials in Delhi by the erstwhile West Bengal Intelligence Bureau.

The supporters of Netaji, who have been demanding complete declassification of files pertaining to him, have also been able to get declassified copies of letters between Indian and British Intelligence officials on Bose's death and activities of his relatives.

However, this declassification was done in the UK and the documents are at the National Archives at Kew in Surrey.

'UPA govt said declassifying Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose documents would cause law and order problem' | Zee News
Last Updated: Monday, April 13, 2015 - 21:54

New Delhi: The former United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government had rejected declassifying documents related to Subhas Chandra Bose claiming it could lead to a law and order situation, alleged Netaji's grand-nephew on Monday.

"The previous government, Prime Minister's Office and Home Ministry made a volatile statement saying that these classified files in PM's Office cannot be declassified," Surya Bose told ANI from Berlin.

"They (UPA) said if they do, they would have law and order problem and problems with friendly nations," he informed.

Demanding that the secret files related to Netaji be declassified by the Modi government, he said, "There is a movement (of declassification) going on in India which has built up quite a momentum."

Bose's family members are likely meet to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Berlin today and discuss the issue.

The family has already demanded that the Narendra Modi government declassify the secret files related to Netaji and the clan.

Earlier, Netaji's grand-nephew Chandra Kumar Bose said, "It is shocking. It is not an issue involving merely the family, but the entire nation, because several members of the family from Sarat Chandra Bose to Amiya Nath Bose as also Sisir Kumar Bose were prominent freedom fighters."

Sugato Bose, another grand-nephew of the leader and Trinamool Congress Lok Sabha member, said a "great wrong" has been done by snooping on the family.

Recent reports revealed that the family of Netaji was placed under intensive surveillance from 1948 to 1968 by the central government.

The country had three Congress prime ministers during these 20 years - Jawaharlal Nehru, Lal Bahadur Shastri and Indira Gandhi.

Seems like you are pretty delusional and willing to go to great lengths to protect Congress, at least thats the way you seem to be coming across. Anyway, if Russia had executed Bose, then of course Stalin along with others can be blamed. But Nehru knowing about it, makes Congress look the corrupt, inept Sobs that they are. Holding it from the public for decades to minimize the damage aginst their power....should be a wake up call to any Indian with an ounce of self respect.

Yup as expected. Congress destrpyed the files....It doesn't matter. The damage is done. On top of that, we should make every effort to get Russia, Japan, and England to fess up telling them there will be no harm to foreign relations.

The fact that Nehru was snooping for decades even after his death speaks volumes.

Sometimes, we Indians need to stop looking for facts on paper, and simply open our eyes and hearts to the obvious.

ohehe...party which has been accusing others of snooping turns out be the original snooper? :woot:

Tables have turned.... the messers become the messies!

Government has to decide because its about International relations.

It will not hurt any relation with any country. This is a lame excuse. They don't want the names come out. This will destroy the base of modern India. ;)

Also I think most of the evidences and files are already destroyed.

I want Mount Kanchenjunga to be named as Mount Pappu.... Because he has risen to the greatest highest in his family.

Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose's files: Govt forms committee, family hails PM Narendra Modi | Zee News
Last Updated: Wednesday, April 15, 2015 - 16:16

New Delhi: The Narendra Modi government has formed a high-level committee to decide whether to declassify the documents related to mysterious disappearance of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, reports said on Wednesday.

The government has formed an inter-ministerial committee headed by Cabinet Secretary to review the Official Secrets Act in context of Netaji files.

As per reports, the committee will also include officials from Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), Intelligence Bureau (IB) and Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) departments.

The panel has been formed to look into the classified information on Bose's death and decide which all documents can be made public.

Reports, however, suggest that the government may not declassify those files which risk harming India's ties with some foreign countries.

The development came just two days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi assured Netaji's grandnephew Surya Kumar Bose to look into the snooping controversy and also assured that he will take positive steps towards declassification of the secret files on Netaji.

Netaji's relative Ardhendu Bose welcomed the government's decision and said the family is grateful to the Prime Minister.

Hailing the government's decision, another relative of Netaji, Chandra Bose said that we are really proud of Modiji.

“Modi is the first PM of India who has taken such positive steps to unravel the mystery,” Bose added.

A huge political storm has erupted after it was revealed that the Jawaharlal Nehru government spied on the relatives of the nationalist for nearly two decades.

Intelligence Bureau kept relatives of Subhas Chandra Bose under close surveillance for two decades, most of which was during Jawaharlal Nehru's tenure as Prime Minister, according to archival material, triggering a political controversy.

The IB sleuths intercepted and copied letters written by the Bose family and even trailed them on foreign tours.

A host of Netaji's descendants, enthusiasts, historians and organisations have been campaigning for declassification of secret files claimed to be in the possession of the central and West Bengal governments.

A section of the Bose family and Netaji enthusiasts on Tuesday took out a rally in Kolkata condemning the alleged snooping on family members of the revolutionary leader by successive Congress governments and demanded a judicial probe.

Attended by 100 odd people, the rally also demanded declassification of about 64 files said to be with the West Bengal government and over 100 files with the various central government departments including the prime minister's office.

Netaji snooping row: '100 files with Centre, 64 with WB govt need to be declassified to find out truth' | Zee News

New Delhi: Sugata Bose, the great grand nephew of freedom fighter Subhas Chandra Bose, on Tuesday said that Home Minister Rajnath Singh should clarify who ordered the surveillance as evidence has already supported the claim.

“The evidence already supports the claim that surveillance of family members took place. Home Minister should clarify who ordered the surveillance,” he told ANI.

He added that the written answer given to them was “vague” and hoped that the government is taking the matter seriously.

The reaction came shortly after the Minister of State for Home Haribhai Parathibhai Chaudhary told Lok Sabha that the government has no plans to order a probe into the reports of surveillance on family members of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose by the Intelligence Bureau for 20 years.

Meanwhile, Chandra Kumar Bose, who is Netaji's grandnephew, said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has asked for more time on the issue of declassification of files related to the freedom fighter.

“PM Modi has given us assurance; let us give him some time,” he was quoted by ANI.

He said that 100 files with the central government and 64 with West bengal government needs to be declassified to find out the truth about Netaji's disappearance.

“The snooping angle will also be clarified, the moment these files are put in the public domain,” he added.

At the same time he said, "It is no longer a family issue. How can elected government reject people's demand of declassification of Netaji files?" Chandra Kumar Bose said.

Surya Kumar Bose, another Netaji's grandnephew and elder brother of Chandra Bose had met PM Modi in Berlin earlier this month and sought declassification of all secret files amid a row over reported snooping on the leader's close relatives.
