What's new

Nawaz's claim of 10,000 MW is a simple lie

does it matter..as long as educated urban class of northern punjab thinks he is doing good, he is good..he would again do clean sweep in northern punjab especially the urban areas where he will grab all 45 seats(of urban northern ppunjab) and probably 80ish(vs 95 last time) in total northern punjab seats(out of 103)

add another 10-15 else where and he will form the govt easily

isnt it famous quote "agar khata hey tou lagata be hey"
aur
"nawaz sharif aik nasha hey"

True

Bhai Jaan they are politicians and are retarad what do you expect from them they can't even give a speech without seeing it from a piece of paper they don't know the difference between installed and generation capacity obviously

Just like a politician which ranted about Solar power project that it's generating 18 MW and due to this it's a failed project

So... Yes they worked to reduce the loadshedding which has been controlled to much extent then it was in 2013
THere is no denial from the fact that energy capacity and generation has increased, the question is how and at which cost ? by doubling the external loans ? by charging the highest rates in the region ?

issue is lack of reforms and circular debt..anyone can increase capacity by giving incentives to private sector..distribution and reforms was the job/issue not the capacity

Given that you have a soverign guarantee from the government of Pakistan ... so its close to investing in long-term TFCs...

These IPPs are even ensured for loss of profit due to plant shut down ...

@RoadRunner401

You probably googled most of the wikipedia edited information, end-user does'nt care about generation more about the cost of unit consumed, that was what I was speaking about. Phillipines does give subsidy like other corrupt nations like Pakistan hogged by pseudo-intellectuals like you trying to divert and spin information. Phillipines Meralco charges 18 per KwH [US cents] flat whereas in Pakistan those consuming more than 700 units like in Karachi pay 18.22 cents per KwH which is Rs. 18-20 per KwH which is one of the most expensive in Asia. Phillipines peso per unit charge is 9.50-10 although it is most expensive in Southeast Asia. Even after subsidy K-Electric blackmails to keep the rates up as its protected by top politician in Sindh Govt. [everyone knows who, who has a hand in 1994 electricity policy] NEPRA knowing the exorbitant prices with crap supply by KESC reduced the tariff by Rs.3.5 per unit in 2017, K-Electric went to court and took the stay order and still robbing the consumers with over-inflated charges by making different excuses like peak units, getting cheap gas supply from SSGC and not operating its generation units which run on furnace oil. The end-user in KArachi continues to face 2-16 hours loadshedding, this is OUR REALITY. So pelase keep your stupid book knowledge to yourself or assess it with the ground reality first.

I hang around investors plus I have other tools available to do this research and yes google is one of them, I don't take stuff from wikipedia as that can be edited by anyone.

I couldn't agree more, but in Pakistan we don't have any leaders, we have opportunist thieves running the country, they will only make decisions that will benefit them not you and I.

Phillipines does give subsidy like other corrupt nations like Pakistan hogged by pseudo-intellectuals like you trying to divert and spin information.

Well lets see;

If it was people like me running the country, we would close down every crown corporation period, let the private sector fill in the gap and tax them.

I would subsidize power rates to the manufacturing sector like India and China to attract foreign Investors, but consumers will pay full cost.

It will cost billions to upgrade Karachi outdated power system, it will cost billions to build new power supply. Who is going to pay for that?

The reason we are in this situation is because previous governments only paid lip service to this and didn't bother building or upgrading, guess what now you have no choice but to privatize.

Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) worth Rs 32 billion had played a key role in rendering the power utility incapacitated in making payments.

Leghari categorically declared that gas supply to K-Electric would not be restored until a payment agreement was signed.K-Electric had to pay Rs70-80 billion to SSGC and until the row was resolved or a formula was agreed, gas supply would remain an issue. “Gas cannot be provided without any agreement,”

Federal government halted the gas supply to k-electric and provincial government doesn't want to pay its bills, clearly K-electric at fault here.

i still cant believe how the PML N supporters defend the power sector performance
a mere 25% increase from 90 billion units in 2013 to 110 billion units in 2017 is just 25% increase
for reference PPPP increased it from 73 billion units to 90 billion units, a similar 25% increase

MW is capacity and doesn't matter..remember some older plants were shut down too...

so what wrong
1. completely ignoring distribution , in the hope that this will be privitized but than also not privitizing it
2. no solid plan, first 6 m onths PML N did nothing, next 6 months it decided on coastal coal project but than it shelved it for numerous reasons(funding, as coal doesnt get easy funding, and govt refused to spend a penny) also there was no grantees on dispatch
3. than it works on gas but its too late now, plants take 36 months to complete, it also did ntohing to decrease loses and shelved AB smart meter plan
4. also didNOT pursue PPPP polciy of building numerous samll cheap hydro plants(PPPP added 600mw in 4 small hydro projects)
5. in short it left everything to private sector without any incentives...PML N was more focused on metros and motorways

Why every comment has slavery and ghulami stuff??? Can't you write anything sensible
Can't you behave sensible?

Whatelse can possibly make you so blind?

Those which are un-operational will be operaOperat soon accident and technical faults happens in the power plant or any other project
Sure that can happen...But the fact they are still claiming to have produced the amount of power that doesn't exist or hasnt been produced is by itself a lie!
