Navy to add 49 ships, submarines

A total of 12 ships are planned to be built in various batches, with a second batch of four updated frigates currently in planning.

Its 3 + 7 = 10 my friend.

Directly for horses mouth. Read what Chairman and managing director, Mazagon Dock Limited, Vice Admiral H.S. Malhi says:

What is the progress on the P15A and P17? Have you heard anything from the Indian Navy on the follow-on orders?
The progress on our shipbuilding projects has been satisfactory. As you are aware, three frigates with stealth features are being built at MDL.

The first ship, INS Shivalik is already commissioned in the Indian Navy. The second ship, INS Satpura has completed final machinery trials and is being readied for delivery in June 2011. The third ship, INS Sahyadri is in the final stages of construction and will be delivered by end of the year. In addition, three missile destroyers are being built under Project P15A. First two ships are presently in an advanced stage of outfitting. We are likely to commence delivery from March 2012 onwards for the first ship and one ship each, thereafter, every year. We have signed the contract for four destroyers under Project 15B for Indian Navy. Preparatory work is in progress and production will commence in 2012. Defence Acquisition Council has also approved construction of seven P17A stealth frigates at MDL and GRSE. These are follow-ons of P-17 frigates.

Currently we have the most advance ones which are F-22Ps. Hmmm.....
I think the PN should look seriously towards building the Naval base of Ormara which is their dream and build 3-4 huge shipyards as well for Submarine as well as ship building, other than the planned 2-3 Gawadar ones. Although currently we are in a bad state but I can surely say that in next three years it will be bit different and in 7 years it will totally be changed.
In 2020 if everything goes well:
4 F-22Ps
5 Type-54Bs
7 Type-54Cs or some Destroyers like Type-53s
11 Corvettes (2000 tons mutil missions)
15 FACs
11 Chinese Submarines + 3 Agosta-90Bs

I know that it will still be nothing in front of IN but we aren't looking towards that IN totally but we are planning to defend ourselves from any aggression from any side. So, our total surface combatants in total will be 41 it the FACs will be included

dude do you know building up a naval force is a very very expensive affair you need an economy to support that much of naval power now you also want to build shipyards which alone cost alot can pakistani economy take all this

.
hmmmm... I wonder pak army even needs that ... just send ur zaid hamid and the mullah co. here... our soldiers will die laughing their *** off....

.
Guys, stop replying to wet dreamers and concentrate on the topic of the thread. Even the CNS of PN won't have such fancy dreams as 7 SSBNs. Even China has only four. He wants the pak navy to be the largest operator of SSBNs after USA. Why respond to obviously uninformed wet dreams like that?

i know of at least 2 threads where you have posted this fantacy of yours . mind telling us how this is achievable?

your right but its funny to laugh at idiots once in a while i mean seriously 7 SSBN's when China only has 4 and we are now only planning out our future fleets containing hopefully by 2030 a dozen SSBN's for a navy who in this point in the modern world does not even operate a destroyer Indian additions of aircraft carriers, nuclear submarines, stealth destroyers and frigates is just the tip of this iceberg that dominates the entire Indian ocean region

don't worry big brother China will make "joint development" submarine with Pakistan and it will be better than any submarines those Indian yindoos make with American,Russian and Israeli support. but seriously its not even hard to know who dominates the Indian ocean waters the navy is the best equipped of the 3 military forces, although we do need more modern diesel-electric submarines and at least a dozen nuclear submarines by 2030.

Actually P-17 Series will serve as the base for all Indian Frigate Designs till 2025

But Shivalik Class as Whole will comprise 3 Ships
MOD has ordered 7 P-17A Frigates based on the Shivalik class and costing some 8 Billion USD in Total with Deliveries beginning in 2019
These Ships carry several improvements Like Hypersonic Brahmos instead of Klub N Cruise Missiles , as well as Barak 8 SAM from Kolkata class , as well as several improvements to Jammers and other electronic sub systems
Not to mention the fact that they will be stealthier than Shivalik class

Even Indian Navy is looking to increase its Fleet to 19 Frigates and 10 Destroyers By 2022
And a fleet of 14 SSK and 4 SSBN by 2022
