NATO meets tomorrow in response to Poland's request to invoke the Article 4

If it's gonna invoked, it'd be the fourth time that NATO invokes the 4th Chapter which may allow NATO states to deploy forces in Polands borders. (Note: PAC-3 Patriot deployment in Turkey was also in response for the invoked article 4)

ARTICLE 4 Of Washington Treaty

Under article 4 of the Treaty, any Ally can request consultations whenever, in the opinion of any of them, their territorial integrity, political independence or security is threatened.

The developments in and around Ukraine are seen to constitute a threat to neighboring Allied countries and having direct and serious implications for the security and stability of the Euro- Atlantic area.

If sanctions are put in place they will suffer,yes,but Russia will crumble.So,they got to learn to take a little pain,in case they won't,they can't be trusted as allies anymore.That if everybody wants sanctions right now,for all we know the americans could be bluffing to.

Dude, Russia has half a trillion dollars in foreign reserves. It can survive many years with complete Western sanctions.

To make the sanctions truly effective, you also need to get China and India on board and and that we know short of a Russian military attack is not going to happen.

Use your common sense and look at the events, this is something which was planned for years , the defections , pro Russia supporters gaining administrative buildings , local administrations asking Russia for help and hence giving Russia a pretext to launch invasions ...

Self sufficient was the SU because it was not intertwined with western economies.The only reasons why some europeans countries are in doubt to use sanctions is because they will loose money but it will cost Russia even more.A look at wikipedia to see Russia's imports will quickly tell you how self sufficient they are.I am no expert but with this debacle i read on the situation,you should do the same and pass over the russian chest thumping.

There is no way that the millions of barrels from Russia can be replaced with alternative sources in the short-term.

Oil will become scarce and prices of at least 200 dollars per barrel will cripple the EU economy just when it has just managed to come out of recession.
