Nation’s honor not to be traded for prosperity: Kayani

Your saying Pakistan, ISI, and Army need to find justification to tell CIA and USA to reduce or stop drone strikes in their own country by releasing RD!

The fact that Pakistan has to release a criminal just to reduce drone strikes is a sign of weakness and is very pathetic. What is the military there for? As if Pakistan needs to look for a bargaining chip to reduce or stop drone strikes, this is beyond pathetic this is scum.

I think you need to stop being so headstrong and look at the situation realistically. It is not in Pakistan's interests to go on a full scale war with the US, not because it can't do so, it most certainly can. However, Pakistan would lose the support of the international world if it openly engages in a war with the US. Losing credibility & ties with the rest of the world could be detrimental to Pakistan's future.

What is wrong with a general giving a patriotic and rousing speech? He did not call for the overthrow of the government did he? If the people 'look at these generals as an alternative', then that is the fault of:

1. The politicians for doing such a miserable job that the people are looking to General's (why can't the politicians at least given similar speeches?)
2. The fault of the people for not having faith in the democratic system and not voting for different candidates in the elections, or not voting at all.

Why blame the general for 'making a speech'? That is just silly.

There is a problem with Generals making such speeches & it is this - the general is not answerable to the public at large directly. There are no consequences for him directly by the choice of that decision. Honour or prosperity is a false choice as there is no honour in being poor. In any case, such decisions are best left for people who are going to be held accountable by the masses for both their economic condition & for any "dishonorable" acts. This may not seem a very important distinction but it is what prevents Pakistan from being truly democratic. Your political leaders must be held accountable for their decisions but they have to be their own decisions & not ones imposed/articulated by those who do not have to face an election.

Btw, General Kiyani has been himself instrumental in undermining the Pakistani army/ State by accepting an extension of his tenure. There is absolutely no logic to that decision. Surely the Pakistani army has many Generals who can be CoAS. If there are only a couple of them (those receiving extensions) who can do the job then the army & Pakistan itself are in a far worse situation than presently accepted. If the argument of Americans asking for that extension is accepted, then the undermining of Pakistani position on sovereignty has already happened and there is not much point complaining about it now.

Sorry, this doesn't really make any sense.

It should! The fact that it isn't (making any sense to you) is the problem.

The problem is that you clearly lack any kind of understanding of the situation inside Pakistan, which is why you're talking about various things that have absolutely no connection with each other. Which results in senseless arguments that have no basis with the realities on the ground.

Its a clear message to all those people who think Pakistan can't survive/prosper without US aid (which includes our politician)... Long live Pakistan :pakistan: :pakistan:

What are you smoking dude?? It will lose much more than the support of International world (as if it supports Pakistan at the moment). It will probably lose its existence as we all know it today..

Isnt it the other way of saying, we will eat grass and blah blah and develop weapons but never letting our honour and dignity compromised? Something of that sort that Mr zia once claimed.

Some Facts to Clarify?
