He is clear in his thoughts . He rejects all Islamists . For him , they are all bad . And when he said "Iqbal was worse than Maudodi" , he meant Iqbal was more extreme in his views than Maudodi . The conservatives and Iqbal worshippers should take it as a compliment !!!

In it Allamah Iqbal, came up to him at the end, and humbled himself in utter shame reminding of the majesty of God, and his concern for Muslims in India. No extremism of any sort, but only service to humanity.

Allamah Iqbal also had close relationship with Shaykh Jamat Ali Shah of Sialkot. And Allama Iqbal spent the last years of his life in utter modesty and spirituality. He wrote couplets that showed nothing but concern, love, and kindness to all of humanity. He kept the company of others, this is the point.

I am a proud Muslim and a proud liberal. I admire Allama Iqbal as all Pakistani's do but lets give credit where credit is due; from reading Iqbal's stuff, I could not agree with NFP more. NFP actually nailed it, I couldn't have put it better myself. Allama Iqbal is not the Holy Prophet [P.B.U.H], so I don't see why so much harshness for someone criticizing Iqbal? All men are fallible except our Prophet [P.B.U.H].

You are putting words in NFP's mouth. Nowhere does he say Iqbal was a 'Islamist'. All he is saying in his brief tweet is that Iqbal was worse in the sense that he imagined a utopian shaheen just as Maududi believed in a utopian Islamic setup across the 'ummah'. Thats all.
