Bangla has been the language of Bengalis, that's it. Urdu has been the language of the MUSLIMS of the Subcontinent, and that is why it was chosen.

But you can't compare the beauty of calligraphic perso-arabic script, something Bangla and most Indian scripts just will never achieve

well in our schools if someones writing is extremely bad.. teachers usually say kee urdu jehee likhi janah. and if a baby speaks n noone can undestand whats being said they say in punjabi.. kaka pashto bolda and everyone smiles

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, while convening a meeting with Moallim-e-Urdu Welfare Association in Lucknow on Sunday, has announced to set up Urdu medium government schools at primary, middle and higher secondary levels in Muslim dominated areas across the state.

Speaking to media on the sidelines of the meeting, Samajwadi Party spokesman Rajendra Chaudhary said, “At a meeting with Moallim-e-Urdu Welfare Association, the CM announced setting up of Urdu medium schools in Muslim dominated areas to promote the language.”

The meeting was held at Akhilesh’s official residence - 5 Kalidas Marg in the State capital.

Akhilesh said that the knowledge of Urdu would help people to get jobs and the government would make certain provisions to ensure that the students get technical education in Madrassas.

According to sources, the state government will pressurize the Centre for the implementation of Rangnath Mishra commission and Sachar committee report’s recommendations.

i dont know why indians are fighting over the ownership of urdu. its kind of dead language in india and in pakistan its florishing. its a pakistani language now. i bet not even 10 % of muslims in india can read write or speak it like pakistanis. by the way its good language for poetry but recently punjabi has beaten it. converts some of the urdu songs in punjab and they sound even better but convert punjabi songs in urdu and they doest sound good

Sorry to burst your bubble,both Hindi and Urdu languages are official languages in India. Urdu is the heritage our north India, not of Punjabi, sindhi or Pashtuns.

As a native speaker of Urdu language and a full blooded Mughal I can tell you that Urdu has always been considered the official language of Mughal Empire and considered as the primary language of the Indian Muslims in addition to their ethnic mother tongues. Because of this status , Urdu was declared to be the National language of Pakistan. Not only that it is the native language to almost 15% Pakistanis but also because it is widely spoken and understood by all Punjabis and most of the Pathans, Sindhis and balochis as well. When I hear bad urdu spoken by some Indians under the guise of HINDI, it is painful to my ears.

Let me give you an example of bad hindi/Urdu spoken by some of your compatriots.

Sala bol na jana ka hai kay nai jana ka. Kia karnay ka aai. Baajo wali chookari say pooch kay bata ?

Please just shoot me instead of subjecting me to this kind of torture.

Are you guys trying to prove that Urdu is Indian language...... What does that even mean.???? Are you going to sue us for using urdu or what???? Before partition the whole place was one....
