All I hope for is if both Governments just put in place the mechanisms for such a transfer. I am 100% sure there will be many takers. Nations should not become prisons. That's all.

Like I have people who are settled here but long to move to BD. Except they can't because their property is all here. A property transfer mechanism can ease many issues so that people moving are prosperous migrants and not begging refugees. Dignity of life can be ensured. Non Muslims from BD and mostly Pakistan keep pouring every year already. Only they are forced to stay in the poorest colonies because their wealth(back home) is worth nothing here.

There is nothing stopping a BD Hindu from selling their property and moving to India if they wish with their money.
You forget the emotional attachment that people have to their country of birth.

Very few Hindus from BD are moving to India these days as the economy is relatively good and there is little discrimination against them - not saying there is none as people will be people at the end of the day.

Recently I've come across videos appeared on YouTube of Indian Muslims openly abusing Pakistan and Pakistanis with vile disgusting racist, sexually explicit derogatory comments and threats. I've also viewed a video of an entire Muslim gathering burning the Pakistani flag. Makes me wounder as to why the Indian Muslims feel compelled to abuse Pakistan so much? They are Indian and should be proud Indians but do they have to prove their loyalty to Hindustan by making anti Pakistani videos based on foul abusive language and threats? Wonder if Indian ulema such as Owisuddin and Mahmood Madani openly encourage this behaviour by their fellow Indian Muslims?

All that Pakistan bashing is for domestic consumption because they happen to live in a country where the Muslims have to prove their loyalty day in day out and still be treated as second class citizens. We should take it with a pinch of salt and send them happy thoughts when we enjoy our beef kababs, biryanis and curries. They have their youtube to vent out their frustration but we live in a country where we can enjoy thousands of juicy beef dishes anytime anywhere

Yes. Emotional attachment is a big thing.
But there is another issue that works here.

Distress sale. We know it very well.

When a significant number of people move, the prices fall. Also when someone starts selling, word spreads and there are chances of him/her family being looted and so on. Here is where the Governments should ideally step in to make sure the people get fair prices. And security.

Yes, from BD now the exodus has reduced to a trickle. Also some token ownership can still be maintained. There is no need for the vile Enemy Properties Act. Just a change of citizenship with right to move on both sides of the border can solve many things. If a proper exchange can be done, the BD India border itself can be kept more open. No more BSF/BDR patrols, no corruption and so on.

When you fall sick you will have to run back to India. Indian Muslims are better off in India and if we want better life, we have whole world to choose from. Hindus from BD or Pakistan come to India in search of a life (not even better). Those two countries are living hell for them.
