Thats absolutely wrong, its live and let live attitude of the land is the main reason. Most of the indians outwardly may reject ppl at the first instance but as they become accustomed to them they become tolerant.(b). the minorities have been the ones who over the decades gave india its ( minimal ) cosmopolitan character and towards that they were indeed large-hearted and it is they who voluntarily assimiliated,
Another important point is that most of the minorities in india are converts so they have as much claim on heritage as any other hindu would. If you look at muslim or christian especially in southern part they generally carry surnames which they got centuries back. Christians particularly never had any issue. It only becomes a problem when some foreign missionary or rabid wahabi convert comes here to stir up things.
