Muslims in Nepal demand a Hindu state

(b). the minorities have been the ones who over the decades gave india its ( minimal ) cosmopolitan character and towards that they were indeed large-hearted and it is they who voluntarily assimiliated,
Thats absolutely wrong, its live and let live attitude of the land is the main reason. Most of the indians outwardly may reject ppl at the first instance but as they become accustomed to them they become tolerant.
Another important point is that most of the minorities in india are converts so they have as much claim on heritage as any other hindu would. If you look at muslim or christian especially in southern part they generally carry surnames which they got centuries back. Christians particularly never had any issue. It only becomes a problem when some foreign missionary or rabid wahabi convert comes here to stir up things.

Care to elaborate then about what's going on inside India???? The forceful conversions, the threats to minorities, the killings by RSS, Shiv Sena and BJP loving Hindu extremists?

Forcible conversions? Killings? Where exactly?

And how come I don't see Hindus saying that they are secular and against violence?

Secularism is a state concept, what has it to do with Hindus except that the proof of India being a secular state is evidence of such support from the majority.

I've asked so many directly and they don't answer that question.....so how are you secular if you support forceful change of religion for others, killings, violence and all.

Who have you been asking & what exactly is it that you have been asking?

I'd love to hear some suggestions. So far, either people act like nothing happens in India, or they never denounce the violence!

Maybe because for the most part, nothing really does happen in India. An odd incident in a country of 1.3 billion is inevitable, does not in most cases, merit a response.

Can't really respond to someone's imagination gone berserk.

i am hindi not hindu - a big difference

A big difference indeed. One refers to a language. The other to a single people with shared civilizational heritage.

Don't take my word for it. This has been debated at great length by many scholars and experts, with references taken from past and resent, Indic and foreign, and then opined upon by the highest court of our land at a time of great strife and bad blood and upheaval in our country.

(b). the minorities have been the ones who over the decades gave india its ( whatever ) cosmopolitan character and towards that they were indeed large-hearted and it is they who voluntarily assimiliated,

Cosmopolitan in India has NEVER been about religious identities. It was always been about ethnicity and linguistic and regional mix. Always. I have never seen or heard the word used otherwise.

And why should minorities "assimilating" be a big thing in India. You did not get transplanted here from some other land man. I don't get it, why should it be put forward as some sort of achievement or "large heartedness" as if to not do so would be taken as the de rigeur response. Please explain.

(c). "air and water"... my twin but single identity as a socialist muslim takes me into universal brotherhood, so there is no way that i can ever limit myself into the idea of nationalism, which idea goes back only when the first republic was created by the french revolution.

Your socialist rights are protected and guaranteed by the state. Your existence and every part of your life is touched by and contributed to by the state and the society that forms it.

Tomorrow were there war with another state and people, and when they come to kill the Hindu socialist, it will be Hindu soldiers standing in the way firing back.

Thats absolutely wrong, its live and let live attitude of the land is the main reason.

land?? no land can think and speak... i have had two members calling me "mleccha" and "sullah" ( whatever this means ).

Another important point is that most of the minorities in india are converts so they have as much claim on heritage as any other hindu would.

i never rejected askhoka, chandragupta maurya, the buddha or guru nanak... indeed, i consider buddha as a prophet... i never rejected the greeks and others who arrived 2000 years prior... indeed, the muslim medicine system is called "unani" ( yunaani - greek ).

There are millions of sources and hundreds of youtube videos. However, some links for you if you live in the safest part of India :)

Pretty much all the members on here....majority of the threads opened on different topics......it looks like you've not been on here for a few years......

Nothing really happens in India. So Obama went to India, and just decided to talk about minorities' safety in India and religious tolerance issue as the Hindu extremists, from the likes of BJP,RSS and Shiv Sena wanted to convert everyone over to Hinduism.....

Some articles from 2008? That was during a riot after a Hindu religious leader was killed. Happened in one district in the state of Odisha. How is it at all reflective of anything? Having to go that far back and referring to an incident that happened in one district of one Indian state kind of destroys the argument you are making, does it not?

Been here, obviously you have not caught my notice. Good that you did now. This should put you out of your misery.:-)

How many died? Forget about who said what? Where are all these forcible conversions that you speak of? All the killing? Obama talking proves nothing, I'm asking you to show me a wide scale pattern that you wish people to respond to. Odd cases happen in every country.

Don't believe you are that naive or stupid. If those things are happening, surely they would merit mention in the more important publications of the world, not just a couple of rags.

I dont get offended by PDF banter. Chill :-)
I never meant to disrespect you or your community.I just asked that question because of your rigid stand on this matter because as far as i can remember the VHP has also taken the same stance.Anyways,i respect you as an individual and hence i respect your opinion no matter how much it differs from mine but if you still feel offended then i offer my sincere apology to you:):)

Neither the structures are there not Buddhists are claiming over any such site. As such, this point is settled.
i am sure the asi will know of the sites, unless we believe that buddhism never existed in india.

the furthest extent in south india of the presence of buddhist structures is in andhra... so either remaining south regions were too hostile to buddhism ( meaning fanantically hindu ) or the structures were present but demolished by hindu rulers.

My proposal is to build both the Ram temple and a Mosque for our Muslim brethren on the same ground as directed by the Lucknow Divisional court. It's a win-win situation for both of our communities and it will ensure peace and harmony between us for the next forseeable future. What say @Hindustani78 bhai jaan, @altaf khan1 bhai jaan ,@jamahir comrade, @Razia Sultana mohatarma, @ayesha.a mohatarma, @Guynextdoor2 bhai:coffee:

I actually support the only thing that Thackeray said, build a national monument in it not affiliated with any religion. Like how the turks convered the Haiga Sofia to prevent any historical fallouts (it was first a church, then converted to a mosque). They didn't want this historical baggage anymore.

This is an indication that subcontinent is going back to its root, the Hiduism. Hinduism is the only way of peace and prosperity. I think singhal was right when he said that India shall become a Hindu rashtra by 2020 and the world by 2030. There is a rapidly growing realization that the only Hinduism is the key to peace and progress.

Its not genuine call by Muslims as the feel threaten by proselytizing under secular cult... Anyway good for Nepal....
