BTW, women don't have sexual organs on their torso either.
hehe.. hard to argue with that..However, I think the person you are arguing with is talking about modesty.

Interesting choice of pictures for the article.
deliberate and this OP is also has some particular interests too

Obviously she can't do gymnastics in 'Burkha' now ...
there is Burkini for swimming introduced for the compromise for gymnastics i dont know how far one can go that doesnt hinder the performance

Oh f*** these Mullahs, well done Girl for making your country proud .!!!

One day I hope these Mullahs gather up and criticize Suicide bombings aswell .
Yes suicide bombing is wrong but the way they expose body that is also strictly prohibited in Islam.

Perfect, they ignore the work she's doing. Typical, can't see beyond flesh. She shouldn't have to do anything on the account of some beardos getting hot, bothered and sweaty over the way she dresses.

Visual and oxygen impairment.
What work she is doing sorry but this work is not allowed in Islam and is prohibited

Shorts or track pants will do the job just fine. Why a girl doing gymnastics has to spread her legs wearing a one-piece swimsuit only ? How does that help ?

This is systematic objectification of women and now some women are trying to defend it, thinking it to be an attack on their personal freedom.

like I wrote. i dont know
I will leave it for the game experts of the correct gender and political view to decide what is right, sufficient and what is not and whether it is objectification or just being sour.

What right syed Ali got to make comments about that girls personal choices...you don't mind calling others names but when we point it out you get angry..her life her choice..who knows she may not be even a practising Muslim..who the hell are you to decide what she has to wear, eat,go etc etc...this type of attitude takes many youngsters away from your religion..anyway when you are dishing it out to someone, prepared to take it too.

And who are you to tell us that what she did was right? Keep your personal choice sh*t to yourself. The critique here is not personal choice but a matter seen from Islamic point of view.

You Indians sound very progressive. As if your India is some part of western Europe. We know who you are and how you treat your women.

And please. This is not India v Pakistan thread. If you have nothing to share on topic, please stay away.

That was more like a question in general, not specifically to you. I'm just trying to highlight the issue here.

In athletics, the goal is to express the capabilities of the human body to its limits and those limits will have the body, male and female, performing deeds and positioning itself in various positions. It is only the imagination that will sexualize everything the human body can do.

So why is it that no cleric bleats about dress code when men do not cover their knees?

Where is the outrage? Where is the "Oh, modest muslim men should wear longer pants!" opinions?

If you are a Muslim woman, read Quran first and pose these questions to Allah. He specifically tells women to be modest. Its not me or some Mullah. Its our Creator. If you can fight Him, please go ahead.

To be fair, she could wear a less revealing outfit and still be just as successful. But that's just her choice.
Had it been tennis, where micro minis can be replaced by shorts, I would have supported you. I really think the tennis skirt dont serve any purpose and that it can be replaced by shorts like the men wear.
But Farah is a gymnast, wearing anything longer than what shes wearing in those pics might restrict her movements. JMHO!

True. In fact 'true' Muslim women should stay away from gymnastics entirely. Stretching exercises always reveal the curves, regardless of the dress you are wearing.

Actually in cases it may be fatal if she wears anything longer. It not only restricts movement but also increases the chance of a bad fall and broken bones. If maintaining the imaan is the first priority then Muslim women should stay out of sports.

If that's the case then it's better she leave Islam and pursue her gymnastic career.
Remember the Pragash band of Kashmir. They sang. Got fatwas. Left singing. They were kids and not yet accomplished. This girl is different. There are rumors that she may leave for UK. For good. That's good.

My 'problem' is that I disagree with Muslim women wearing revealing clothes.
There is nothing to "disagree" about someone's clothing.

True, he has a right to air his opinion. But it makes me wonder why he (and countless others) opine only about women, and never about men. Here is Ahmad Amsyar Asman, a muslim swimmer from the same country:
Because men make the religious rules, end of story.

Why does that not set off anybody's immorality detectors? Is it so hard to see the double standard being practiced?
Today's Muslims are all about double-standards and hypocrisies.

Men's pants should be long enough cover their knees. Otherwise, their chests being bare is allowed according to Islam since they do not have any sexual organs there, unlike women. That is why.
LOL :D :D :D
I don't see any sexual organs at men's knees that needs special covering, do you? :D :D :D

Bro, I appreciate your loyalty towards your religion ( this comes from an atheist ) but South East Asian Muslims are not the same compared with Middle East or South Asia.
Damn true you are!

So why is it that no cleric bleats about dress code when men do not cover their knees?
Who cares? They are all Muslim men, remember? :D

Where is the outrage? Where is the "Oh, modest muslim men should wear longer pants!" opinions?
HAHAHA :D
