Musharraf may announce own party next week

By Imran Adnan

LAHORE: Former president Pervez Musharraf is all set to announce his own faction of the Muslim League – likely to be called the “All Pakistan Muslim League” – next week, reliable sources have told Daily Times.

The sources said around two dozen politicians from the PML-Q’s dissident group – including Sher Afgan Niazi, Barrister Ali Saif, Talib Nakai, Asif Nakai, Altaf Anhar and Nisar Muhammad Khan – had left for Abu Dhabi for consultations with Musharraf. A meeting has already been held on April 2.

The sources said Khurshid Kasuri and Hamid Nasir Chattha would join the dissidents in Abu Dhabi “in a couple of days”, while Moonis Elahi had already met Musharraf in London. A close aide of Musharraf said the consultations – likely to continue until Musharraf leaves the UAE on April 11 – were being organised by Barrister Saif, who has already applied for the registration of the “All Pakistan Muslim League” with the Election Commission. The sources said the dates for the launch of the party and Musharraf’s return to Pakistan were likely to be announced on Aril 11. They, however, said Musharraf was still open to the idea of a unified Muslim League.

Musharraf would travel to Singapore after leaving the UAE to hold further meetings.

Musharraf ready to defend himself

ISLAMABAD: Former military ruler General (retd) Pervez Musharraf, who is set to launch his political party next month, has said that he is ready to defend five allegations against him in the media, The News learnt here on Sunday.

“The former president (Musharraf) is ready to defend five allegations against him, including the Lal Masjid operation, murder of Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti, promulgation of the defunct National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO), removal of Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry as the chief justice of Pakistan and imposition of dictatorial rule in the country,” said Barrister Chaudhry Fawad Hussain, a lawyer and a close aide to Musharraf, while talking to The News. “General (retd) Musharraf is all set to launch his own political party next month,” he added.

Fawad said in a meeting with Musharraf in Abu Dhabi, he found that the former president was very disappointed with the performance of the government. He quoted the former dictator as saying the people of the country are facing many problems, including the power crisis, poverty, unemployment and lawlessness, but the rulers were busy in strengthening their rule. “People are suffering from multiple problems and looking for a genuine leadership, so that their problems are solved,” Fawad quoted Musharraf as saying.

The lawyer of the former military ruler said the name of the new political party had been finalised. “We have applied for registration under the name of All Pakistan Muslim League,” he said. “The former president will announce the date of his homecoming by the end of the next month (May),” he added. Fawad said Musharraf had decided to stage a comeback for saving the country.

Funny thing is people type in one liners and then follow with LOLs ...

Twitter will help supporters following Musharraf in Pakistan. Obviously he likes to use new tech but unfortunately Pakistanis lack tolerance so they try find fun in everything.

Google Mushrraf and Gilgit Baltistan and one can easliy learn about the level of support for gen. Mushrraf.

If that doesn't satisfy you then just simply look at the result of last elections where PML-Q was able to win seats from all 4 provinces even afetr supporting Gen. Musharraf. OTOH, NS won seats in 2 provinces.

Now my turn to LOL.

:pakistan:

Gen. Musharraf has over 160,000 fans on facebook and constantly responds to questions asked by people on a weekly basis.

No other Pakistani politician, cricketer, actor or anyone from Pakistan has that number of fans on Facebook. Further proof that he is and always will be popular among us.

MUSHARRAF'S PROTOCOL IN US...
