Mumbai: In an unwarranted event, a city cop has landed himself in a controversy after threatening and beating two innocent college youths throughout the night at police station.

Kedar Pawar, Bandra police inspector, picked up Asif Shaikh (19) and Danish Shaikh (19), both students of Rizvi College, who were partying near Bollywood actor Salman Khan’s residence on Friday night at around 2 am and detained them at Bandra Police station till morning.
When the boys' parents rescued them in the morning, they found that both had brutally beaten up and had injury marks on their bodies. Both were rushed to Bhabha hospital, where they found out that Asif’s left hand had been fractured due to the assault by cops.

The families immediately approached senior police authority to take strict action against the erring cop, following which Deven Bharti, Joint Commissioner of Police, ordered an inquiry against police inspector Kedar Pawar.

“DCP Satyanarayan Choudhary has been asked to conduct the probe and submit his report. Action will be taken against the guilty,” Bharti said

Advocate Rahul Dangle claimed that his clients were partying near Khan’s house late Friday night at around 2 am, when Pawar, who was in civilian clothes, picked up the boys.

“They were taken to the Bandra police station and kept till 6.30 am. Throughout the night, the boys were brutally beaten up by the policemen. No case was registered against them and the police also did not allow them to make phone calls. In the morning, when duties changed Danish got the opportunity to call his family members who subsequently got the boys out from the police station,” Dangle said.

Dangle also said that Asif had been preparing for a state-level body building competition to be held in December this year. He alleged that Pawar even asked the boys leave India and go to Pakistan.

While speaking with a local Urdu daily, Abdul Munaf, uncle of Asif said, “There was no ground to detain both the boys. The inspector with his policemen first asked boys their names and then took them to police station where they were threaten of sending to Pakistan and were beaten up inhumanly without any fault of them. We have made complaint to commissioner and have demanded strict action against all those policemen who were involved in this unjustifiable incidence.”

Mumbai Police thrashed two young Muslims, asked them to go to Pakistan

Residents of Mahim, two 19-year-olds Asif Shaikh and Danish Shaikh were allegedly detained and tortured by a few Bandra police officers on suspicion of being Pakistani terrorists or ISIS agents on Saturday, a leading daily reported.

Asif who works as a gym trainer was with Danish near Bandra Reclamation on the way back home from Bhabha Hospital, when they were allegedly picked up by the police.

Victims' relatives and neighbours allege that both Asif and Danish were detained and grilled for over three hours and were beaten badly. They were even asked to "leave India and go to Pakistan" by the police, they said.

Asif was hit with belts and batons and Danish slapped and punched, after which the police finally made a call to their parents to take them back.

It is not clear whether the detention of Asif and Danish was made an official entry in police records.

Asif's photo published in the news report shows the brutality he was treated with, but the police is yet to make comment on the incident.

partying at 2 am and preparing for body building competition? reminds me of good old days when I used to sweat it out for hours drinking daily trying to get those six pack abs.

You cannot park/party at bandstand after 10pm. The Bandra Police regularly patrols the area and if they happen to receive complaints from residents about people drinking or smoking pot along the promenade, they arrive within minutes, and then you're badly screwed. The police regularly detain people at Hill Road Police station overnight for "Causing Public Disturbance", with a fine of about Rs.1300. If the cops assaulted the boys, then that's completely out of the ordinary, and pretty shocking to be honest. There must seriously be another reason.

You do not need too much imagination to think who two Drunk teenage boys pumped up on steroids and adrenaline partying in the middle an on the roads would have acted with the police. :disagree:

Knowing Mumbai police, I have no doubt how they would have reacted.

Now the boys know better and the cops know better. Animosity of muslims boys to police is well known.

One only has to look at the march for yakub memon and Azad maidan riots to understand it.

Police brutality is also well known.

The cops are assholes, but one has to know how to talk to them. If you have a nice face, that helps :D Anyway, I don't mean to generalise, but all too often, you'll find that these guys ride their shitty bikes in groups like packs of rabid dogs, acting like madmen on the roads, all the way from their slums in bandra east and chawls in Mahim, to south Bombay, creating absolute mayhem along the entire stretch. They often act funny with the cops, playing the religion card when they're caught, not to mention switching riders before check points in brazen displays of arrogance, weaving through traffic, knocking off rear view mirrors of parked cars, terrorizing pedestrians, and above all drinking and riding. I'm told it's haram, but what I see on the streets every weekend leads me to believe otherwise.

The muslim in india were left on purpose by Jinnah
How is Jinnah to blame in all of this? He created a nation for us and as later we were persecuted we had no choice but to migrate. If Jinnah hadn't been there there would have been no place for my parents to go to. So congratulate him on forming Pakistan. We need it and we need it now more than ever- a strong Pakistan which stands up for muslims across the globe.

You are assuming the boys are a menace and practice hooliganism on what basis? Do you know them? Lets not judge people after they have been through such a harrowing experience. That gym trainer should have given one big slap to the policeman.

All power to Moohdhi Ji, I am becoming a big fan of his recently.
