MQM: Sincerity Towards Other Ethnicities

By Akber Hussain

At the time of signing “Sulah-e-Hudaibiya” between the Muslims and the disbelievers, an objection was raised from the rival side to the name “Muhammad-Ur-Rasool Allah” saying, “Our agreement is with Muhammad (PBUH) not with the Prophet of God (Rasool Allah) and that it is our basic dispute with him (PBUH). We do not accept him as the prophet of God.”

Though his companions were not in a mood to accept this objection, yet the Last Prophet (PBUH) removed the word “Rasool Allah” with his own hands. At this point, it is very important to notice that as per the teachings of Islam, the Last Prophet (PBUH) has the importance not as only one good (in fact, the best) person or human being. Rather, he is respected and followed with heart and soul especially due to the reason that he was sent to this world as the (Last) Prophet of God. In fact, the purpose of removing the word “Rasoon-ullah” was to show the co-operation and sincerity on behalf of the Muslim community towards the agreement with the disbelievers (Kuffar). Logically speaking, what else could the Muslim leadership have done in order to show its fair intention to the rivals? How else could the Muslims have proved their sincerity to the agreement with the deniers? Anyway, after removing the word “Rasool-Allah”, the agreement was accepted and “Sulah-e-Hudebiya” came into existence.

It is an open secret that ever since MQM came into existence, it has been facing very common objection from almost all the political parties, columnists and the analysts to the word “Muhajir”. Although MQM leadership had quite strong and valid arguments in the support, yet it finally decided to remove the objection relating to the term “Muhajir” by replacing it with “Muttahida”. Everyone knows very well that MQM emerged in the name of “Muhajir” and this was a political base for it in the Pakistani politics, yet MQM leadership took a big step by risking its political ground in order to convey a congenial gesture not only to the political critics, but also to all the ethnic communities all over Pakistan. In fact, it was the fairest intention, fullest co-operation and the most sincerity that MQM was communicating to all the people in the country.

Further, due to this big step, there was a possibility that MQM leadership would face severe annoyance from its own supporters and workers. There were definitely chances that there would be some people in MQM who could disagree to the decision. But, by taking all these risks, MQM made the toughest and the biggest decision of its political life. Why don`t these anchorpersons, columnists, intellectuals, politicians and Ulema realize the fact that in the scenario where almost all the other “national” political and religious parties eventually return to their own ethnicity in case of need, while MQM, for the sake of striving to unite all the communities on one plat form for a revolution, has expanded its scope for other ethnic communities as well? The question is, how else could MQM and its leadership have expressed their sincerity and patriotism for the sake of brining unity in the country?

MQM not only transformed itself into Muttahida” from only one community-centric party, but also on-ground proved it. In addition to including Sindhi, Punjabi, Balochi, Pashtun and Hazaras office bearers to its top hierarchy of leadership (commonly known as MQM Co-ordination Committee), but it also made several non-Urdu speaking workers MPAs` and MNAs`.

Furthermore, MQM kept on doing its best for years to bring the different ethnic communities together on one platform. For this purpose, it set up various organizing committees for different ethnic communities to bridge the viciously created gaps among them. Finally, on June 24 2012, the entire Pakistan itself witnessed the results of the efforts carried out under POC(Pakhtun Organizing Committee of MQM). The people originally pertaining to the KPK province gathered in an impressive number in Jinnah ground on the appeal of Alaf Hussain who gave very loud and clear message of brotherhood and ethnic harmony especially between Urdu speaking and Pashtuns.

Though the Pakhtun convention, MQM`s leadership altogether turned down the allegation of not accepting the Pakhtoons in Karachi. Honestly, organizing the huge public gathering only of the People of KPK was itself an official and in-public recognition of the Pashtun ethnicity by MQM before the world. Then, how else could MQM prove its sincerity and honesty for ethnic harmony in the country especially including Karachi?

In addition to all these, MQM, to the extent it got the authority and powers either in the city district governments or in the coalition government, left no stone turned to serve the people regardless of their ethnicity, region, sec and religion. That is what the world recognized openly. It is said, “One`s reality automatically gets exposed when he/she gets powers and wealth”.

Practically, in most of the cases, it comes true. So, setting this rule as a standard or a yard stick, when we try to find out the reality of MQM and its leadership as it had powers and authorities especially during the PMLQ`s tenure, do we not get a very pleasant surprise about them that is completely opposite the long prevailing propaganda against MQM? The improved law & order of the city, peak of economic activities, more businesses, better job opportunities, tremendous increase in the foreign investments, historic development and improvement in the facilities for the general public surely made Karachi as the fastest developing city of the country which benefited all the people belonging to any ethnicity, region, sec and religion. On top of it, that was the period during which there was no conflicting situation between any two ethnic communities of Karachi that totally negated the repeatedly accusing MQM of opposing other ethnicities.

All these facts draw a very clear line between the politics of MQM and that of the rest. This is the fact that the anchorpersons, columnists and the political analysts have been deliberately ignoring.

PROTECTION WITH TERROR ?

Narrating a true story shared by someone I know:

I was thrown out of my sleep with the crazy door bell followed by some heavy knocking on my house door at 05:20 in the morning. My head was spinning and wasn’t able to understand if I am dreaming or I’m back to the real world.

While knocking out things here and there, I got out of my bed and reached for the main door intercom so I can know who the hell is at my door at 5 in the morning. The door bell was ringing continuously and the boots on the door were getting louder and louder.

I picked up the intercom and shouted in pure anger “Who the Hell is that?” My voice was followed by a much angry voice saying “It’s Rangers! Open the door immediately”.

Rangers-604.jpg

The anger in that voice got my eyes opened and I rushed to open the door. My wife and my kid (9yr old boy) were waking up from the voices I was making while unlocking my house for the Law Enforcement guys “Rangers”.

As soon as I opened the main door, 7-8 (don’t remember the exact count) rushed into my house with their G3riffles facing me and asking me to move into the house. I went inside the house to see my wife was already up and out of the bed and my son came running to me crying in fear after seeing these tall and huge guys. Immediately, I was asked to unlock everything in my house for a search. I was not told “Why” and by “What” authority they wanted me to obey them, as in a civilized world, a search warrant is required to search any public property. I obeyed them and opened up every closed/locked drawers, cupboards and boxes. When I turned around, I found my mattress lying on the floor and 2 guys looking beneath my bed. A few went into my cupboards and dropped off every piece of cloth/stuff in there on the floor. I was still in shock as they were not asking anything and kept on doing their so called work. One of these guys was not wearing a uniform; instead, he was in Shalwar Kameez and was covering his face with a big shawl. He kept on staring my face with an unknown hate in his eyes.

After everything in my bedroom was on the floor, One of them (seemed their leader) spoke to me and asked me to move to another room, my son’s room. I lead them to my son’s room and same procedure was repeated with a little difference, they were talking to me now. The one who was talking to me threw a question and I answered immediately. He asked “Where did you live in F.B Area”. I replied with the Block I used to live in. Then he asked “What you do for a living?” I told them that I owned a small business related to marketing services and offered them my business card, which they refuse by saying “It’s not required”. Finally, they asked me the question I was waiting for. I heard him saying in his heavy voice “Do you have any weapons, licensed or un-licensed?” I told him “I don’t have any weapons, licensed or un-licensed”.

After staying 5-8 minutes more in my houses and searching every bit of it, they finally decided to leave with an instruction “Don’t come out side”.

I escorted them to the gate and shut it close as they left. Coming back in my room, I found my son crying and shivering with fear. I looked at the clock, it was 5:34 in the morning and I could hear the Fajar prayers being called from the nearby mosque. I hugged my son and talked with him. I told him that “These guys are to protect us and we shouldn’t be afraid of them”. He was listening very carefully to me and was getting normal with every word from my mouth. I could feel his shivering coming to an end. But my mind kept on searching for an answer which my 9 year old son asked me “Papa, if they were to protect us, why were we terrorized?”
It’s been a week and I’m still searching for that very answer.

Peace Talk or War

HISTORY: On 11th September 2001, one of the world’s most disastrous attack held at the World Trade Center in New York. Since then the world has changed a lot. The Muslims whether from Indian continent or Arab started facing problems in foreign countries. Some faced social boycott.

When USA and UNO decided to start a WAR against Terrorism, at the moment Pakistan under rule od former President General Pervez Musharraf (Who was also the COAS of Pakistan) stood up and did what was in the benefit of Pakistan.

USA asked simply One Question to the President, “Are you with us on WAR AGAINST TERRORISM or against us?” And he decided to be against terrorism to make Pakistan’s face better in the global community. People might blame him that it was never our war, but the Ground realities were different Taliban was present in our own boundaries, we were facing extremism in northern parts of our country . We were facing tremendous Terrorism from Durand Line.

During the tenure of President Musharraf (2001-2008) Pakistan was on the verge of winning the WAR Against Terrorism. But after government changes it seemed like Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan the sister group of Al-Qaeda started taking over by her small groups includes (LeJ, SSP , etc.)
They attacked many Masajids, Mazaarats, Imam Bargahs and Mefils of Milaawds & Majalis, things changed too suddenly that the whole country was in a state of shock.

Since the birth of TTP (Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan), Jama’at-e-Islami is one of the most popular religio-political party of Pakistan, who has sympathies and direct or indirect connections with Taliban. Their Head Syed Munawwar Hassan even called dead of Taliban as Martyrs of Islam and remained quiet on the martyrdom of Pakistani forces. The other political ally of TTP is Maulana Fazl-Ur-Rehman the head of Jamat-e-Ulmah-e-Islamia FAZL-ur-Rehman group (JUIF) who recently said that if America kills a a dog , I will also call him a MARTYR. There might be several TTP supporters in Pakistan. But the Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and the former cricketer Imran Khan Niazi is known to be the most Obedient to Tehreek-e-Taliban. Imran Khan is the one who never condemned Tehreek-E-Taliban Pakistan even after they accept the attacks on different occasions, sometimes he and his party defended the act of TTP as the outcome of Drone attacks.

It has become a war between liberals and extremists ideologies in Pakistan. The parties with extremists’ ideology have become the sympathizers of Taliban, they’re extremists by nature and few of them are doing politics in the name of ISLAM.

MQM (Mutahida Qaumi Movement) is the most liberal party who stood strong against Taliban and other religious extremist groups even after paying alot for the cause , MQM lost their sitting members of assembly RAZA HAIDER (MPA) MANZAR IMAN (MPA) SAJID QURESHI (MPA) the candidate of provincial Assembly Fakhr-Ul-Islam and faced many attacks on their Election Offices during 2013 general elections. Hundreds of MQM’ers have sacrificed their lives for the cause and recently their elected members are getting THREATS from TTP. Till today they’re standing strong against terrorism and asking for a strong action against Taliban. PPP (Pakistan People’s Party) is another victim of TTP who lost their Chairperson Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto just because TTP didn’t like a woman leading an Islamic state. ANP (Awami National Party) lost its one of the founding member , one of the famous Bilour of Peshawar Bashir Ahmed Bilour sacrificed his life for speaking against Taliban .

The parties with ideologies are living in a state of denial where they think that Dialogues are the only solution, even after knowing that we did dialogue with them in Past before Swat operation. And they were the ones who broke the deal.

They’re just defending them just because they’ve not been victimized by Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan “YET”. There is a famous Couplet “Main aaj zad pe agar hun to khushguman na ho, charagh sab ke bujhenge hawa kisi ki nahi”

It depends on us now, what we need to decide are we ready to give them another chance even after knowing they cannot stand on their words and put thousands of more lives on Risk.

Or, we make a proper plan to attack their areas, I am standing with the FORCES OF PAKISTAN.
We can’t afford to give another chance to TTP and their allies.

MQM was founded on HATE towards other ethnicities. They fought (killed) Pathans, Balouchs, Sindhis, and Punjabis. that's the ground reality and 30 years of hard undeniable facts. One article full of lies can not cover countless murders purely based on mother tongue during last thirty years.

Blah blah blah, why would Pathan, Balouchis, Sindhis and Punjabis join mqm if they knew that MQM was made to kill them? Are you from Karachi? Do you know how many MPAs and MNAs of MQM are not Urdu speaking Muhajirs? Or are you also in denial like the rest of MQM haters.
