Pakistani Movie ‘Saawan’ Wins Best Foreign Film Award in the US
There’s a good news from Pakistan’s Film Industry as ‘Saawan’, directed by Farhan Alam, has won the Best Foreign Film award at the Alexandria Film Festival, held in Virginia, U.S.A.
Saawan is a story of a disabled 9-year-old child from Balochistan who is up against all kinds of obstacles.
The film director Farhan Alam, who is known for directing various Pakistani films, announced his victory over his Facebook profile.
“I am proud to announce that Saawan has won Best Foreign Film Award at the 11th annual Alexandria Film Festival held in Virginia, USA. Congratulation team Saawan on another win,” Farhan said.

Verna will release in Pakistan without cuts
Information Ministry gives Verna a green light to screen nationwide
After a long battle at the censors, Shoaib Mansoor's Verna is releasing in Pakistan without any cuts to the film.
Central Board of Film Censors Chairman Mubashir Hasan confirmed to Images that the CBFC has passed Verna "without any cuts or mutes".

He said, "It is confirmed that film Verna has been declared suitable and fit for public exhibition. CBFC has issued censor certificate to the producer. CBFC has regulatory jurisdiction [over] cinema houses located in Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) and those located in the cantonment areas across the country."
According to Hum Films' PR representatives, the film will screen in Sindh, Islamabad and cantonment areas across the country, but awaits a No Objection Certificate in Punjab. Director Shoaib Mansoor himself also confirmed to Images that the film is releasing uncut in the above-mentioned areas.
Hum Films' PR team confirmed that the film is releasing internationally on schedule.
Update: The Information Ministry cleared Verna for a nationwide release without any cuts.
Earlier, the CBFC was said to have banned Verna due to 'unanimous objections' raised by a panel of CBFC on the film.

Cake
Asim Abbasi’s directorial debut, Cake, that was expected to come out this year, is all set to release in the first quarter of 2018. Featuring Sanam Saeed, Aamina Sheikh and Adnan Malik in pivotal roles, the film promises to be a unique addition to Pakistani cinema. In an interview with Instep earlier, Saeed informed that the story centers around “family dynamics and family secrets,” which the audience will find quite relatable. She added: “It’s about aging parents and the problems that the family faces due to lack of communication and hiding the truth from each other. It’s an emotional experience unlike the commercial films. It’s deep and meaningful.”
Saat Din Mohabbat In
Starring everyone’s favourite Mahira Khan and Sheheryar Munawar, Saat Din Mohabbat is scheduled to release on Eid ul Fitr next year. With the dynamic director-producer duo, Farjad Nabi and Meenu Gaur and script by Fasih Bari Khan, the film is a romantic comedy and is bound to tickle your funny bones. According to reports, it follows the life of a young man (essayed by Munawar) on a quest to find his true love and the troubles he encounters during his journey. Aside from the lead pair, Saat Din Mohabbat In also features Ayesha Omar, Mira Sethi, Amna Ilyas, Jawed Sheikh and Hina Dilpazeer in prominent roles.
Teefa In Trouble
Marking Ali Zafar’s big screen debut in Pakistan, action comedy Teefa In Trouble is also said to be releasing on Eid ul Fitr next year. Zafar will be seen romancing Maya Ali, who also makes her cinematic debut with the project that is being directed by Ahsan Rahim. We saw a glimpse of their chemistry at the Lux Style Awards stage where the two performed together for the first time. Teefa In Trouble revolves around the story of Teefa, played by Zafar who claims that the film offers something that hasn’t been done in Pakistan before and features high-end action, romance, music and dance.
Jawani Phir Nahi Ani 2
The highly anticipated sequel to Nadeem Baig’s blockbuster Jawani Phir Nahi Ani finally has a release date. With an all-star, ensemble cast, Jawani Phir Nahi Ani 2 is all set to release worldwide on Eid ul Azha 2018. Most of the actors who featured in the first part including Humayun Saeed, Ahmed Ali Butt, Vasay Chaudhry, Uzma Khan and Sarwat Gilani will also be a part of the sequel while it also stars some new faces: Fahad Mustafa, Mawra Hocane and Kubra Khan. The shooting recently began in Istanbul, Turkey, and the first look of the film featuring the four male leads is promising.

With an attempt to add variety to local cinema, Imran Raza Kazmi’s upcoming suspense thriller, Parchi will also release next year. Starring Hareem Farooq, Ali Rehman Khan, Ahmed Ali Akbar and Usman Mukhtar, the film revolves around the lives of three men who land themselves into trouble and end up seeking help from an authoritative and dominant woman, played by Farooq. The film’s first teaser, released earlier this year, didn’t prove to be extraordinary but offers a new genre to cinema for sure.
PS. We are eagerly awaiting some concrete release info on Bilal Lashari’s Maula Jutt reboot but nothing has been announced yet. 2018 will also see the release of Shaan Shahid’s Zarrar, which marks the debut of model turned actress Kiran Malik. Yep, there’s a lot to anticipate.
