What's new

Move begins to form new India state

Although I personally do prefer creation of smaller states, the way Telangana was agreed to is not only bad for local economy and vote bank politcs. Its also bad for the democratic governance in India. TRS ran a politcal platform on just the Telanagan state and didn't do that well.

Then why has the Congress agreed to it so suddenly just because of hoodlums creating havoc in the city? Offices and unis have been closed, police and para-military is all over the place and public property is being damaged. Is this the image we want to give to the people of India? That destroy enough property and create enough nuisance and GoI will listen. That fighting elections and following democratic norms does not matter. Congress has utterly failed to act in a proper manner to resolve this issue. I have been talking to the locals there and many of them although have no opinion for or against Telangana in hyderbad but are angry at the nuisance the protestors have created. Granted that there is a lot of support for it in the backward rural areas though. But there are more deserving candidates like in UP and Maharastra espicially.

Anyways, looks like with half the assembly resigning in protest, the Andhra and Rayalseema regions wont allow Greater Hyderabad to remain only Telangana's capital and recently they have started moves to declare Hyderbad as UT. Unfortunately it looks like AP is heading to a President's rule sitatuation, but that would be best to stabalise the ground situation so that business and schools, unis are not impacted further.

Simple majority yes,but the procedure is no mean task
1)First we have to introduce a resolution in the states Legislative council
where I think it has to get a majority
2)Then it goes to the Rajya Sabha(it is associated with states and boundaries) where I think it must get two-thirds majority
3)Then the PoI must give the consent to the motion

Long procedure with even more bloody litigations which I don't know

On top of that you have to add a lot of adminstrative infrastructure. Each state will require a high court, bueracracy, police services, public services e.t.c. Overall just these public jobs spurs the economy through government spending. But most important is the quality of leadership that the new state gets, otehrwise look at Chattisgarh and jharkhand, even after getting a enw state there are still where they were 5 years back.

This sucks, here i am sitting watching the place i grew up, changed forever.

that bastard politician gets to be CM.

Fate of Hyderabad is uncertain.
who gets the Deccan chargers.

If Visakhapatanam(eastern naval headquarters) Becomes the capital.
It will loose that sleepy coastal city feel that made it so great.

This whole thing makes me uber bummed.

So in fools hope i ask the question

Is this whole thing just a political move, With no real action. ?
The Fast and agitation done by KCR is giving very bad signals to the rest of the country. Now every body will do fast and agitations to get their priorities, Ultimately this will lead to chaotic democracy in India.
Now if each group or ethinic group demands states like this India will become into a nation of small princely states(just like india before independence) which is not good sign for the unity and integrity of the country.
We are socialist, republic and sovereign country, if politicians feel that there group or people are facing problems then they should deal with them by not dividing territories.

What exactly is the wish of the common people in Telengana region

btw, if you are watching the political chaos of AP, 112 members of assembly have resigned which means they cannot pass any legislation at this moment. most likely there would be president's rule if they dont take back their resignations.

btw, there are too many stakeholders for hyderabad who are not willing to let go. things gonna get much more complicated in the coming days..

for once those useless MP's did something praise worthy.

Currently i think i figured out out HM's Strategy.
How do you put out a persistent flame you start a bigger controlled one to use up all the oxygen.

Hope fully when all this Is over which is like not to be till the end of next year. Telegana will be the last thing on peoples mind

KCR claims that telangana people are backward and are being exploited. Then a question arises what he has done to them in his entire political career. There are no incidents in which he had done enough to solve problems people are facing.

Talking about backwardness there are lot of districts which are backward and are underdeveloped then what about them if state diveides. Only thing that assures the development of these people is united Andhra pradesh where there is enough representation from the state in parliment.
He hates Andhra people and gives slogans like "talangana jago Andhra bhago"
just like Shivsena in maharastra. Even though hyderabad is a mixed culture of north india, south india and muslims why he hates andhra people and wants them to leave hyderabad or telangana?

Even if separate telangana is formed with hyderabad as capital this guy will lead the movement like "Quit telangana" against andhra's.

Hyderabad is a complicated issue in state division because lot of people across Andhra have invested in the city. Today there are lot of hospitals, hotels and industries are set up which helped to create jobs for people in that region. People of Andhra do not support separate telangana at any cause. This decision is taken in haste just for 11 days of Fast(by taking Celine bottle and in continous observation of doctors) :hitwall:.

I agree there is a demand for separate telangana for 40 years but The movement done in 1969 is completely different form the movement done today. This movement is only for political power,Hyderabad and KCR's political future in the state. The bottom line id separate telangana is not the solution for the problems faced by the people, It has to do more with the politicians.

People talking about the backwardness of the telangana should also talk about backwardness of Andhra and Rayalaseema. There are lot of people from Andhra and Rayalaseema also are working in Gulf countries and there are lot of migrants from both the regions seeking jobs.
And the last and important point
Today if muslims in hyderabad asks for autonomy and demand for union territory because of backwardness will GOI give hyderabad to them and what is the KCR's answer for that?

I think there is nothing wrong it will lead to more development and better implementation of government schemes as smaller states can be better governed.

The bone of contention will be Hyderabad whichever state gets it the other will have to make a new capital. So a new world class city will be formed with good infrastructure to compete with Hyde.

I am all for smaller states which will lead to better standard of living and poverty alleviation. Moreover in a democracy it all about reasonable and peace full wishes of the local people within Indian constitution.

The people of the new state must be vigilant to avoid any new madhu kodas in the making. As many new politicians will be seeing new and big money.

I feel sorry for the little kids one more state to remember in the geography class. It was 21 states and 9 union territories when I was in school can anyone tell me the new numbers

You willsee the wrong when these two states fight over water, when the upstate builds dams and dries up(at least the perception in the coastal part will be so) the rivers, when one state ends up with all natural resources but no processing plants and the other ends up with mills with no input and they tax each other heavily to screw up their population's lives, when they ***** about the unfair distribution of assets and not the least about the capital Hyderabad.
Another widely publicized myth by the proponents of Telangana is that of fairness that the part of the state contributes 60% of states GSP despite its 40% population. Even if that is true, note that 5+% of Andhra population lives in Hyderabad and it is not hard to understand taht a good part of the claimed 60% is a product of Hyderabad akllone considering the service industry and exports the city makes. SO the **** about 40% pop making 60% is BS.
For comparison: 50bil$ was APs GSP in 2007.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Economy_of_Andhra_Pradesh#Economic_changes_in_the_new_millenium
\Hyderabads software(only) exports(only) in 2005 amounetd to about 2bil$.

It is true that the state that does not get Hyderabad will have to develop a new one. If that state is Telangana it will stay bakward forvever the point is it will stay backward even with Hyderabad, but Hyderabad pulls the average so that the people can be aclmed down. The state of other districts will remain the same. The leaders remain same. WHat changes is the text book content of the state boards with the Telangana books demonising the pushy Andhras(Some ***es even began to claim that Andhra and Telugu are two different languages beacause there are uninformed people like you who can be easily misled. Heck they could mislead the centre and Sonia. When the hell did the centre exactly understand the South's politics? All they care is whether the party in power there strengthens their coalition. )

And finally even as I understand that there are emotional grounds for people to back such a demand(come on they know they are backward. They have been backward than most other parts of Andhra and the trend continued till today. Some one comes and says that this is not because of history, not because of the unfertile lands, not because of ineffective leaders but because of someone else, and people have got o it. Do you really think it is natural for a backward region(as they claim it to be) to go past a forward region(againa perception)? Then the demand for a separate state would have come from those forward parts which got overtaken), I doubt that the movement has mass appeal. It was more of a mob affair. Understandably th elements in Telangana who oppose separate state are silent in the wake of the public anger. But I believe they are not few people. I havent seen a Telangana student around here talking about a separate state. In fact parts of the above material is from their words.

PS: Beware of the propaganda about how 'Andhras' are different from 'Telugus' and such cultural crap. I am surprised at the wits of people who claim that 'Andhra' does not mean Telugu and that the language that people of Rayalaseema and Coastal Andhra speak is 'Andhra' not 'Telugu'. This is the kind of propaganda that is being fed to people there and in JaiTelangana websites.

If you want to talk about culture each village in India has its unique culture. They have their unique mother goddess.

Nope, except that resources have to be put in to make a new capital city, setup more govt and administrative infrastructure.

The probem comes if the new govt of that state is inefficient and ineffective, then the development stops and problems rise like criminal activity, and maoism cant be ruled out whenever that happens.

If however the state gets a proactive govt-development oriented, then it becomes a star performer.

it could be either ways.. actually if they are smart , they should make hyd a common capital like chandigarh.

You mean to divide Tibet ?:rofl: You have history of getting banned. Don't be surprise if shock comes in the way.

highly unlikely. because when it comes to the cutting edge, we can just fire some CJ-10 missiles from Tibet and destroy your PM's office.

sorry, but our capital is 3000-4000km away from yours, you still have not got any reliable mechanism to reach it, plus we have much better chance to knock off your missiles on its way to our population centres.
