Most common second languages by each London borough

Yeah, Africans definitely seem to be underrepresented. And I thought that Jamaican Patois would also be shown considering that South London has a large population of them. Greenwich has a military barracks which probably explains the large amount of Nepalese speakers? And yeah proud to be from the Punjabi belt!:yahoo:

The thing is Trev, Patois would come under English. You just need to be able to understand it :cheesy:. The issue with the Caribbean community is that they are literally disappearing. Yes, they are the fastest shrinking minority group, mainly down to intermarriage with white folk, and their numbers haven't been boosted by later migrations like our South Asian communities have been.

Good call on the Gurkhas , but I thought the bulk of their deployment was in barracks outside London e.g. Aldershot, which is known as "Little Nepal".

Lol@Punjabi belt. Yes, if you go there it's literally Punjab. Lots of nice looking ladies if you want to visit mate. :smitten:

Is kaam mein South Asians Sabse aage hai :agree:

Surplus population. Teek hai, puri see duniya populate karnah hai. :o:

I think one of these days Bhabi is going to have you tied between two Double Decker buses & having their drivers push their accelerators while going in the opposite direction ! :o:

Arabic is the language of the oil money, French is the language of the ruling class. The rest has no saying in matters of concern. That's what this map reflects. ;)

Being a life long Londoner (born and raised), i'd broadly agree with the map. Not quire sure about the accuracy of Polish being the second most widely spoken tongue from Brixton to Croydon. I would have thought it would be a dialect from Nigeria. The Nepalese part is plain bizarre. That's near Plumsted and Greenwich and that has a huge Somali community! I'm actually shocked Somali is not on here, considering they have a very large population from West to South London. Also Tamils in around Epsom?

Lol@at the far right of the map with the Punjabi section. That would be the Punjabi Sikh belt that stretches from Dartford to Gravesend.

South Asians are by far the most dominant minority.

Arabs and Turks are small in number. Those numbers are virtually all in London, henceforth they look large.

Firstly, the map only relates to second languages so the size of these communities are likely to be modest relative to the overall population. Brent and Newham are the only London boroughs with majority non white populations as far as I am aware.

As for Nepalese in Greenwich, Woolwich barracks has a huge Gorkha contingent and a big Nepalese community has become established in that area in recent years after ex soldiers were granted settlement rights( I know 'cause I used to work in Shooters Hill at the time).

The map also shows big Tamil populations in Croydon, Carshalton etc which is not surprising but I am baffled, just as you are, by the Polish invasion of London that the map suggests..

Muslims. No difference.

Ahaha...sorry my bad language but either you are a troll or just a stupid.

Just FYI Arabs are religious while most Turks are not.. and don't pose sh.it amount of oil to get developed and be the 16th largest economy.

For Arabs religion comes first where in our case, it's always the country. No offense to Arabs. I am not being racist. This our differences.

Americans. No difference. . :coffee:

I get it you dont want to be associated with arabs. Not my problem. I just meant that there were alot of people from that region in london. Get over it already. It wasnt ever meant to be offensive.
