According to your source: 64 for males, 67 for females.

Given the fact that males outnumber females in India, the data from The Economist seems plausible.

There are some indicator where Bangladesh do better than Indian average, some where india do better. But neither Bangladesh nor india excels in all of it.

Also india is combination of states and and some states do particularly bad to bring the average down.

Only the absolutely uninformed would equate Brahmins & Dalits in a caste equation. The Dalits & the Brahmins have no historical animosity (being unconnected) which is why in U.P., the BSP leader Mayawati, herself a dalit could stitch a dalit-brahmin base together. The dalits could only be "screwed" by what are known as the Backward castes( the OBC) since there were the primary landowners.
