Militants attack Bannu jail, 400 inmates escape

Yes, and coupled with incompetence, callousness and short-sightedness.

The state and society in Pakistan is unraveling in slow-motion, with adverse consequences for all. We all must work to stop this.

The comments by a provincial minister sums it all up.

The police ran out of ammo!!!

I am even amazed at General Kayani. He has no plan to effectively curb the threat posed by terrorists? He cannot advice the government on the matters of national security? Is he so powerless?

And what is ISI doing?

Where does Kayani come into this???

Now he is supposed to get all the jails in the country organized?

While the fire fight was still in progress inside the Taj, the drama queens had a teacher with a bunch of twelve years old doing street rounds.... shouting anti-Pakistan slogans.
Hey mods are there any seperate rule book for pakistani off topic n troll comments...disgusting...cant handle a prison alone..talk abt country.
Posters here think by comparing everythin wid us u gonna absolve all this **** happning...i say grow up..atleast try.

Pakistani police once again proves that it is good for nothing, incompetent jokers.

Terrorism and militancy is a national security based issue. Terrorists are no ordinary criminals. Military bares responsibility in every issue of national security of the country.

A special high-security prison should be build deep within Pakistan and all terrorists should be kept there. COAS can, at minimum, advice the government on how to handle terrorists.

Police is ill-equipped to deal with issues of national security. Military and government should be blamed for such short-sightedness.

Yeah military can be blamed but the larger responsibility lies on the govt. Those looters who live in Islamabad. Military is doing whatever it can do improve situation of law and order in Pakistan. Operations in FATA and other parts of KP province. But what has the civilian govt done to improve law and order situation in Pakistan. Leave Bannu, leave Quetta, leave GB. Take Karachi as an example. This govt has literally turned Karachi the biggest city of this country into a hellhole. If karachi can be taken as an example one can easily imagine how sincere govt is to improve situation of law and order.

Whatever we say the truth is in the presence of this "democratic" govt nothing good is possible in this country whether military helps this govt or not. Mark my words.

Apparently 100 absconders have returned to the Bannu Jail

Giving advice on terrorism is one thing, but he can't play the role of IG police jails. And kayani is ministry of def, jails are ministry of interior. Rehab Maliki and the ig are responsible for this fiasco.

Good that they were not in Pakistan. Else the kids would have been shot or kidnapped by Taliban to become suicide bombers. Safety is afterall relative!!

Why bring India and 26/11 in to it? The actual drama happened in your Bannu last night when over 400 (and the figure I think is just going up, Pakistani media control believes in giving bad news in packets :) ) and all the dramabaaz heroes were missing !!!!

Go figure that dilemma and no need to drag India or 26/11 in to this even if the mockery of that event gives you some sort of saidstic satisfaction.

What a debacle. Somebody is losing their job over this security failure.

Dude their police is better equipped, they have automatic weapons. Taliban is close to army, that to 150.

If like 100 of them simply returned, there's no fun keeping them in there, no? They defeated the whole idea behind keeping them incarcerated by force!

Damn this is bad news... good knows what these criminals will do the average Pakistani now....

smoking, drinking, making noise, killing, suiciding, disruption to society and many more.

That looks bad. I hope that your law enforcement units get those guys back to jail soon...
By now, how many of the guys who escaped were recaptured?
