Militants attack Bannu jail, 400 inmates escape

No, this seems to be a failure of commmitment to eradicate the threat of militancy on our part.

Look how close Bannu is to Afghanistan:

And some geniuses in Pakistani leadership decided to keep some of the most dangerous people in this region. Why?

Why not establish a large and high-security prison deep within Pakistan for such terrorists?

I am even amazed at General Kayani. He has no plan to effectively curb the threat posed by terrorists? He cannot advice the government on the matters of national security? Is he so powerless?

And what is ISI doing?

This is absolutely pathetic, the hardcore militants were kept in low secure prison cells and that too so close to Afghan border, it would have been better to keep these guys somewhere deep in Pakistan in a high secure prison with cctv cameras installed to keep a vigil on these guys.

This has nothing to do with the Army, Its the federal government responsibility to ensure the public security and safety of Pakistan. PPP government has simply lost the plot to govern Pakistan, PPP is only interested in looting the public to fill their own coffers.

Yeah like you guys used Ajmal Kasab to spice up Anti Pakistani Sentiment in India. You are pathetic moron/.

He was Amar Singh.Get your facts right before posting.:D

On topic:2 hour fire fight, no reinforcements, heavy weapons used and there was only 3 injured police officers in the end..Sounds too good to be true.

How did a convoy of about 60 vehicles, gas guzzling Pajeros and Land Cruisers just come into Bannu, make a siege on a prison for about half an hour plus, and the police just did nothing????

Had this been some other country, the Interior minister, IG jails, and IG KPK police would have resigned, and there would have been a state of chaos in the Police department, until the last crook was found out. WELCOME TO PAKISTAN.

Wow what an eye opener. It's apparent US & NATO forces must keep a presence in the Afpak region in order to keep stabilization in the region since pak soldiers cannot.

Yeah, but it was a big example of peace in Kabul Diplomatic enclave today, and 2 other Afghan cities, all thanks to NATO.

NATO really showed a excellent example of keeping peace and tranquility in the city of Kabul!!!

Are you ignorant by default??

The Afghan security forces are also increasingly competent and, according to Nato's top commander in Afghanistan, responded to Sunday's chaos without any help from foreign forces.

So the Afghani's killed 19 and drove off the attack while in Bannu the taliban drive in convoy where they like and the police run away i would say a bad timeto be comparing Afghanistan with Pakistan.

To be realistic, all the check posts may have thought it is a political rally or a convoy of a high official and waved them through. After all, there was a reason the Israelis carried a black Mercedes sedan with them in a C-130 to Entebbe.

Would an ordinary citizen dare report this to the police? Would the police dare do anything about what might be an ISI-supported operation to empower an anti-Indian militant group, one previously kept under wraps for diplomatic purposes?

How could the police be so naive not to stop 60 vehicles, with armed to the teeth Taliban???

Mercedes in Operation entebbe is one thing, sixty Pajeros in driving to Bannu jail is atrocious.

This shows the complete lack of proper organization in the KPK police. Then the ministers and IG police instead of owning up, make lame excuses.

Was this the news story in New York times???

Good that they were not in Pakistan. Else the kids would have been shot or kidnapped by Taliban to become suicide bombers. Safety is afterall relative!!
Kind of sounds like those brain washed kids were displaying by bad mouthing Pakistan.

Why bring India and 26/11 in to it? The actual drama happened in your Bannu last night when over 400 (and the figure I think is just going up, Pakistani media control believes in giving bad news in packets :) ) and all the dramabaaz heroes were missing !!!!

Go figure that dilemma and no need to drag India or 26/11 in to this even if the mockery of that event gives you some sort of saidstic satisfaction.
The 26/11 cropped up in reference to your cross dressing country fellow, since he was desperate for a pink bikini, both his post and Butt have been erased.
