its the army's domain.

military equipment cannot be purchased 'off-the-shelf' like in a shopping mall. once a weapons system is selected, what follows are specifications of the user, negotiations, agreements, lead-time for production, then testing before the system is delivered to the buyer....
case in point the F-16C/D deal was signed in 2006 and delivery took almost 4 years.

The South African upgrade might look like a beast but the ones PA has to look for are the newer Mi-35Ms. They have shorter wings and a fixed landing gear to reduce weight, twin tail rotors for more robustness along with more powerful engines to fix the high altitude restrictions previous versions had. The altitude issue was a big problem for them in the Afghan war.

They are favoring Pakistan now because India has shown them thenga. US weapons systems were bought more than Russian weapon systems by india in the past few years.

Seriously thenga? We are still trading with them in billions and they are still our largest arms supplier. We were initially buying only with them and now we have expanded to other countries, they are doing the same now. We still have decent say with them, a reasonable one. If India can buy with many countries so that Russia can sell, everyone had their interest. We just have to make sure nothing big goes to Pakistan, which is highly unlikely unless you have the money to influence. Right now simply put Pakistan is making chillar sales. Our population starts dreaming immediately.

Russia need foreign exchange since the dip in oil prices and EU&US sanctions. They have no other product for fast revenue. Now EU and US imposed more sanctions last week. Also India recently signed helicopter deal with US. Fail to understand by Indian are so possessive about Russia. They have nation to feed.
