What's new

Maneka opposes cow slaughter for Army sneakers, stalls project.

@bilalhaider

Seriously, is cow slaughter ban all that irks you so much? Even if it is banned, so what? You don't HAVE to slaughter a cow for Eid ul Adha. Infact, there were NO cows in Saudi Arabia during the prophets time. They were only goats or camels or sheeps there.

It is perfectly alright to sacrifice ANY animal and if Cows are venerated by a community, what is wrong in respecting that? As a muslim, sacrificing any other animal and then distributing the meat among the poor is enough to discharge the religious obligation fully. Cow is not the only requirement.

You need to look at what is happening in Pakistan where huamn beings are being slaughtered left right and centre like cattle. That is what should be more worrying.

.
Even in indian village about 30 years back people used to sacrifice animal for god...and that is also banned now...so no sacrifice things are done now

U r thinking that this rules applies to only muslims ..come out of it..
it even applies to hindus or christians and every other community in india

And who said u that consttiution cannot have some speicfic lawS???

If that bill is passed in the parliament that is must n should be respect by all indians...

Constitution gives Indian people to follow the religion of their conscience.....But remember Indian constitution is not based on any religion!!

Then it doesnt have to make laws to appease any religion it will have laws which are logical..

THE MAHARASHTRA
ANIMAL PRESERVATION ACT, 1976

Definitions:
‘Cow’ includes a heifer or male or female calf of a cow.

Ban on Slaughter:
Slaughter of cow totally prohibited.
Slaughter of bulls, bullocks and buffaloes allowed on fit-for-slaughter certificate, if it is not likely to become economical for draught, breeding or milk (in the case of she-buffaloes) purposes.
Penal provisions:
Imprisonment up to maximum of 6 months and fine of up to Rs 1,000.
Burden of proof is on the accused.
Offences:
Cognisable only.

I dont know how it is logical, which fines for slaughtering of Cow, but allows the same for buffalos. Isn't to please people following the majority religion?

Like Jana was astonished with comments made by Indians many of them are Hindus, on eating beef, I think the stereotype will get some dilution.

Eating beef or not eating beef, eating pork or not eating pork, is not such a monumental achievement that requires one to gloat about or regret about. Neither it requires one to tomtom about or have a matam. It is a personal choice.

Hindus have been eating beef earlier and are eating it now without embarrassment because I presume Hinduism is not a religion in a timewrap that cannot keep pace with the contemporary times.

Another liberating reason that Hinduism has over most religions is that there is no central religious authority or body which decides what is right and wrong for Hindus to do or not to do. Therefore, the Hindu is not bound to any earthly dictates and he alone is responsible to his God!

Thus, beef eating or not eating, pork eating or not eating is not any cause in Hinduism to make a song and dance about.

As far as banning of cow slaughter is concerned, it is political issue and not an overriding religious issue. West Bengal and Kerala are two states where it is not banned and these States have Hindus too!

Even after 60 years of Pakistan creation, Paistanis are still struggling with their identity. All that they have is only 'Hindu Hegemony', 'Muslim suppression' words to support the creation of their own country. Even till today that is the only way they can feel happy about their country. Isn't it is so pity!!! They want to get away with everything that is 'Hindu' so this cow slaughter is part of that hatred. Is it part of the Quran that on EID you must sacrifice Cow? big NO. They just want to kill Cow to satisfy their ego with falisified thinking that they got one upper hand on the Hindus and by doing that they are becoming good Muslims.

What is the securalism means? does the secularism means, even if it hurts majority people, you must give special privilege to minorities to hurt the feeling? Is it Ok to NOT to ban Satanic verses in India? Is it Ok to publish Danish cartoons everywhere in India? Is it burn Quran for any other reason?

No. No. No. you can't do that. For them, in their hearts, everyone else other than 'Pakistani and Arab Muslims' are less humans.

.
Kerala also allows cow slaughter and one of the few places in India where Hindus consume beef.

Only Nastik Bidharmi Hindus would eat Beef . I know some lower caste hindus and tribals also consume cow meat ,but that's often due to lack of choices .

.
Religion is secondary to us.

Even though I am not a mainstream Hindu, Don't generalize entire India. We're not socialist schmucks to die in the name of some stupid man-made orders. Respecting traditions (from my stay in Delhi) is nothing wrong. There's nothing 'cool' in disregarding old traditions. One only becomes a Dhobi ghaat creature by trying to be something one is not.

The PROCLAMATION BY MAHARAJA - DARBAR RESOLUTION OF 1936 for Manipur, which is the law passed by the state banning the slaughtering of cows used these exact words:

“According to Hindu religion the killing of cow is a sinful act. It is also against Manipur Custom. I cannot allowed such things to be committed in my State. So if any one is seen killing a cow in the State he should be prosecuted.”

This resolution has not been amended in Manipur till today, even though India became a secular nation in 1950. The point isn't even about the cow, but the principle of appeasement, appeasing the majority that has different belief systems on a particular issue. There is another example: the Anand Marriage act, which has not been enacted for the Sikhs. For marriage purposes, Sikhs, Jains marriages have to be registered under the Hindu marriage act of 1955.

India initially did have the Anand Marriage act in place in 1909, but they scrapped it off in 1956. Republic of India and its secular constitution was formed in 1950. Now tell me, why is that so?

Pakistan isn't the topic of this thread. There's a thread dedicated to all the people being slaughtered left, right & center like cattle all over India everyday, perhaps you should check that thread out sometime.

By not slaughtering animals, seeing their blood flow down the floor will u muslims become Non-muslims???

U drink the milk which is reserved for it's child,u make it work in it farm,u make ghee from it milk sweets ...tie them in some corner make all use of the cow and then slaughter them when ur eid day comes...

Have some mercy...
It is also a living being

Who gave u the right to kill those innocent animals???
even every mother on earth feeds milk and sacrifices her life for her child will u slaughter her in public without mercy..?

does killing cows makes u more islamic.. killing non-muslims makes u more islamic ???

it sucks!!!

It may be a bit of irony that I as a non-practicing Hindu don't eat beef (or even mutton for that matter) but most of my friends who are very religious and visits temple almost every other day have no qualms when it comes to eating beef. Its all about personal choice.

You seem confused in two things, are you against 'animal' slaughtering or 'cow' slaughtering?

Those innocent animals are slaughtered, cooked and eat in every part of world. Hunting of few is prohibited just bcaz to save their species.

You will not see any restaurant where human pizza, biryani, qorma is sold, but you can find almost every 'innocent' animal in different restaurants all over the world.

You are comparing 'cow' with woman having the similarity of feeding to their kids?

So why to make laws forbidding slaughter of 'cow' only?

Manipur is a tribal state and have special privileges.

Sikhs and Jains have no problems with the Marriage Act and if they have no problem and are secular do you have a problem with that? What is your stake in it?
