Federal authorities arrested Marq Vincent Perez, 25, of Victoria, via criminal complaint on March 3, 2017, for possession of a destructive device on Jan. 15. This charge is not related to the fire that occurred at the Victoria Islamic Center on Jan. 28.

However, at the detention hearing today in Corpus Christi, the government presented evidence that he was involved in that incident. According to the information presented to the court, he allegedly burglarized the mosque on Jan. 22 and then again on Jan. 28, at which time he also set it on fire.
