LCA is developed by ADA, which has more to do with DRDO, though not exactly. HAL only builds it.

ARDE (part of DRDO) makes unrelated stuff.

With the recent additional requirements included for MK1A theprogram is bound to get delayed which means the first 40 would be of MK1 only.

LCA Tejas MK2 - FOC 2027 (tentative goal) - 201 (Most likely twin GE 414)

This program is heavily dependent on the ToT from the MMRCA 2.0 which will run from 2023 through 2029.

There is no way AMCA will be ready by 2040. No way. Especially after India back out of PAKFA deal.

Medium term plan - FOC for Tejas MK1A

Long term plan - FOC for Tejas MK2 (Super Tejas)

Very Very long term plan (desire) - FOC for AMCA

Except for Tejas MK1 FOC all other timelines are very very tentative and needs to be taken with a bucket of salt.

It would take a long long time to convert a three legged Cheetah to a four legged Cheetah.
