Things were difference those days, English was the language used by British, so the Sinhalese groups tried to change it. Now Sinhala and Tamil are the official languages, but I think it's fine if government make English as official language coz all government documents come in Sinhala/Tamil/English languages.

then why are the tamil names for places in the north being renamed into sinhala names.....? omanthai became omantha...mullivaikal (where the sinhala forces conducted one of the most gruesome war crimes by killing 49 patients by shelling a hospital) , Kokkachchaankulam and a host of other tamil towns' names are also on the process of being sinhalaised.....

who decided whoa re war criminals ?,,,simple any one who killed civilians in the war are war-criminals......for example teh mullivaikal massacre where 49 tamil patients were killed by the deliberate shelling of the hospital by lankan forces....apart from that watch "killing fields" on channel four.....the lankans have so much blood on their hands and they really respect the tamils as their equals then they must first deliver justice to those killed by the army in the name of fighting terrorism.....

Yea me too the chinese are helping all nations in the neighbourhood and hopefully they will pull up all the region. So it is only to be expected that they are popular

I think Sri Lanka too small to take sides; we must follow Non-Aligned Movement (NAM).

Considering our self not aligned formally with or against any major power bloc.

The Poll also shows China won the trust of many Sri Lankan’s.

Still Sri Lankan’s mistrust India, due to past issues.

It is still not as bad as some online sri lankans would have us believe . 12 % voted in favour of India and 45 % in favour of balance. I think it is better than i expected .

Hey I didn't put anyone there. That said, Indians are known to vote stupid. Why else we keep electing Gandhi clan. Perhaps we need to educate people more and teach them the value of their vote.
