Iran is up to the 10th steel producer.
Soon to be the 7th steel producer in 2021.

There is a huge relationship between growth of a country and steel production.

Historically:
Peter the great transformed Russia by investing in steel production.
Mao transformed China by investing in even backyard furnace.

Honestly the great leap forward failed in some regards. The backyard furnaces ended up producing steel that was mostly useless for industrial use. In general though the population of China doubled during that time and the literacy rate went up. However millions starved because of forced collectivization. The results were mixed at best really. It was partially due to poor planning and emotional decision making. You are right about steel production and industrialization.

It is a long discussion about pig iron and limitations of a backyard furnace and Great Leap Forward.

Mao was a ruthless SOB. Yet he deserves some credit for forcing the likes of Kissinger to the 1972 deal and making the foundation of the current day China.

Mao was a little too ruthless and idealistic, but at the same time he was a product of his environment. He saw countless of his comrades die a bloody and brutal death throughout the years. surviving through the red purges of the 1920s under Chiang Kai Shek, then simultaneously fighting against Chiangs Chinese nationalists and the Japanese imperialists for over a decade until his forces were finally victorious.

During the long march north the Communists lost something like half their numbers according to some figures while fleeing the nationalists. After his troops liberated all of China against all odds, Mao sent them to take back land in Kashmir from India and then the Americans in Korea and finaly fighting the Soviets in 1969. Mao's ambitions truly had no limits and it's unbelievable how resilient he was through all the years of difficult struggle.

It's true that Mao setup the foundations of modern China, however only after his death did Deng XiaoPing put China through the methodical and necessary reforms, which eventually led to China's modern day prosperity. I'm not sure if it would have been possible under Mao since he was such a hardcore and unapologetic Marxist visionary.

Thanks ..so impressive...pity to see iran is not doing a comprehensive cataloging of every product they make...with professional looking photos and description...few people in 6 months can catalog every civilian or military product...have them ready. Send them to customers you think will buy even with sanctions on...
The Turkish guy has all products cataloged ...I think he is a trade rep..all countries have trade reps....I think I am asking too much...we could not even sell any thing to Iraqis formally..lol..fear of US sanctions on them prevents any buyer to shy away.
