LY-80 deliveries to Pakistan complete

HQ-16, HQ-16C: ship-based versions and hot-launch

HQ-16A and HQ-16B: land-based versions and cold-launch

They also have different radars.
A quick question. Is the difference between HQ 16 and 16A only the rockets themselves or will the delivery mechanisms(cannisters) also differ?Help appreciated.

LY-80 firing vehicle and IBIS-150 search radar vehicle belonging to 1 LOMAD Regiment, subordinate HQ 4 Air Defence Division.

Recently, China completed delivery of LY-80 LOMADS to Pakistan, with the last batteries received by Army Air Defence. A total of nine batteries were ordered with an option of another three.

The first battery was received in Jan 2017 and simultaneously inducted into 1 LOMAD Regiment. 3 LOMAD Regiment was raised earlier this year, with another regiment expected to be equipped soon.

Pakistan Army (battery) configuration:

Can they be upgraded to HQ 16B/C version?

So 3 Ly-80 regiments and each has 3 batteries or system

A fourth regiment with three batteries is options left on table

Expecting may be pn will also induct a regiment to cover Karachi, gawadar and pasni / turbat bases/area

Existing order was from 2014/15 when B model was not available perhaps B model will follow with greater range ?? And it’s missile the launcher etc no mod needed I think

Let’s see when HQ-9B or C version at least a regiment of 3 system will be inducted, 4 may be 5 systems will cover the whole country or major population centers against aerial attack / Missile attack

Ly-80 has anti cruise missiles capability but I think no or limited anti ballistic capability

Reaction time is 12s. Would it be sufficient to intercept Brahmos? Whats the radar range?
360km distance if brahmos speed is 3 mach which I give a very postive estimation of 1 second = 1km travel.

That means you have 360s of responding time.... Does that answer you whether 12s is enough or fast enough?

Plus Brahmos flys at 15,000 meter for the most of its flight making it easier to detect compared to low flying cruise missiles like Babur.
