Lt Gen Ishfaq Nadeem likely to be named as next Army Chief : Political Circles

In my experience the first name being bandied in the media for a major appointment, anywhere in the world, in military or business or political arenas, is mostly not the one that's finally selected. Mostly because the media is clueless and the 'experts' commenting are all flying kites. We'll see.

Who said that? I saw sethi's program last night. You must have failed to comprehend. He said Gen Hayat will probably be CJCSC and in the end he gave a hint by saying A is for the apple (meaning Gen ishfaq Nadeem Ahmed) B is for the apple of the eye of the PM (meaning Gen Bajwa) and R is for the one who also ran for the position (meaning Gen Ramday) he also said that some one has picked up pace as a contender in the last 2 days and he meant Gen Ramday. So what I understood from his conversation is that the race is between Gen Ishfaq and Gen Bajwa. Gen Ramday will be the one who also ran and that's about it.

Oh ok.. I didn't watch the program personally but I heard few ppl saying tht... Najam Sethi has talked abt Gen Hayat as CJCSC, and someone from Gen Bajwa and Gen Ramday as COAS

Why would anyone want to believe in what Sethi said In Pakistan things change every hour so chances are of his Chirya being wrong are likely enough, you all are missing the important Link, Input of the Current Chief though as per the Constitution it is not required but as a tradition out going Chief always has been consulted regarding the New Chief & as per i know when Raheel was to be Appointed, it was Retd Gen. Qadir Baloch who convinced NS to appoint Current Chief...

No one likes Najam Sethi, but snice he is very close to the PM..hence we are giving importance to what he says, on the matter.. Also, Gen Kiyani wanted Gen Rashid Mehmood, but his opinion wasn't given any weight...so doesn't matter who Gen Raheel Sharif wants as next COAS... only depends on who Nawaz Sharif wants, and he feels comfortable with, ignoring merit and other considerations

I think..you and I discussed abt Gen Bajwa, not Gen Ramday...if I remember exactly... you said ppl who served under command of Gen Qamar Bajwa, didn't like him much...

Raheel Sharif was also selected by Nawaz Sharif for a reason to achieve targets and we have seen great achievements in last three years. Keep faith in NS this time as well.

Nawaz Sharif didn't selected General Raheel Sharif to achieve specific targets rather he was selected because Gen Raheel Sharif was very soft compared to the other choices. NS never take decision based on Pakistan's Interest but he always wanted a General who always bow to him and never try to fight with India as fighting with India will damage NS business. But untill now everytime his cards turn on him.

I think we all are reading too much.. Just a thinking if ramday is not fit it to be how did he manage to get at this level ? Questioning Army way of promotions ?

Ishfaq doesn't get picked = I knew nawaz wasn't going to pick him. He just wants a yes man to protect his Indian businesses.

but I think..he is most likely to be our next COAS.. Nawaz Sharif will never appoint Gen Ishfaq Nadeem, Gen Ramday will be controversial..because of his family links and Gen Hayat will most likely be CJCSC... I think Gen Bajwa will be the one

So you know Nawaz Sharif very well? and all his companies?
Look at the broader picture and you will see how nicely we all are giving india a befitting reaction.
Also we cannot have a Prime minister like Narendra as we need to complete CPEC.
Think with an open mind there is always a strategy behind national interest.

Exactly, people are more interested in settling some invisible scores with Nawaz Sharif rather than talking about who would would fill the shoes of General Raheel.
