Look How Rich India's Become Under New Prime Minister Modi

Same link says India's external debt to GDP ratio has been actually shrunk by 0.5% in 8 months despite external debt has been risen by few billions. Do you know what It means? It means that Our GDP growth has been much better than that of external debt. Which is what matters. Thanks for the link though.

Yes, it does fluctuate a little bit every other quarter but the overall debt is still heading towards the half-a-trillion dollar mark.

No. A minimum of 7% growth for a poor country only works if the population growth is not out of control for that country. In India's case, population increases by around 13-14 million people each year easily wipes out the 7% economic growth.

Population of Africa: 1.1 billion
Population of India: 1.2 billion

Nominal GDP of Africa: 2.6 trillion
Nominal GDP of India: 2 trillion

Good lord...comparing a country with a continent...what next Genius. Why not Compare India and Pakistan??

Depends on what you are trying to achieve, going after Sonia would make her a martyr, why would anyone do that? I think they are just trying to set the economy growing again, these corrupt bozos will hang themselves if given enough rope.
I dont think Sonia will be considered as martyr by anyone....if she is guilty, then she is guilty specially when it is a case of corruption. One becomes martyr when he/she takes up the government heads on not for corruption case...

The passing of Mines and Minerals bill, Coal Mining bill and Insurance bill are brave steps. He had to fight every step of the way to get them passed and start private mining in earnest.

Now the next 2 big fights are - GST and Land Acquisition bill.

If these bills are passed you will see India's growth rate at over 8% consistently.
GST is there for quiet sometime and was bought by various governments of both congress and bjp...you just need the right numbers to get it passed, which is given by the people to BJP...
Land acquisition bill, there is still lots of voices against the bill, so till it is not passed, i dont see it as work done....

Anyone none of the bill is going to do drastic change towards bringing down the inflation, more money in my pocket, less income tax, better services, better roads, better telecommunications, better education, better health etc etc...

Only the top 0.01% of Indians prosper. The rest are fed to the dogs. Mega corruption is present, not just in India, in all developing countries.

A lot of good people are being kept poor for the benefit of an elite few.

But India has always been an elitist country where your caste defines you, deep rooted cultural dominance.

Its funny some Indians are so involved in this culture they will look up at their "superiors" and be so happy at their riches like they are their own. Thousands of years of social conditioning to say "yes master" "you deserve all the money master as you are a superior caste to me":rofl: What a joke India can be sometimes. So much potential but diluted by a billion morons.
This article shows that India is improving in economy. It is not showning that how indian people are egostic. Is Pakistan imporving in any sector before you pointing a finger on India?? Ohh I know one.. Lol

Why there is no reduction of fares of trains, autos, public transports, goods, etc when there is overall reduction in fuel prices?

Aren't you satisfied with current amount of subsidies paid by government?

60 Years of Socialism has made some people "welfare addict". I would prefer that a government functions like a government and does not act like sugar daddy. It would be much better if GoI divert revenue generated from fall of petroleum to improve public infrastructure rather than providing more subsidy to welfare junkies. This fall is crude price is due to trade war being waged by Saudia on US shale industry. It would not last only for couple of years and reducing oil prices is stupid as raising them again would cause inflation and would be extremely unpopular.

The fact that no Govt has been able to get GST passed should tell you how vexed the issue is.

And yes, GST will lead to easier taxation, less taxation, faster transfer of goods across India and more money in Govts hands and more infrastructure.

It is estimated that implementation of GST alone will increase Indian growth rate by 1.5% each year.

Africa is a continent while India is a country. In a continent, different countries are at different developmental stage. Hence you are mixing different things.

I reckon 8% growth rate will works and when the growth rate is calculated it also takes into account 13-14 million people that are added every years ,after all GDP is combined contribution of all people of India including the 13-14 million people

As India is one country, it should be easier for India to regulate it's economic policy than Africa's 50 independent countries.

Between 2004-2009, India was pretty much growing more than 8% annually and during 2010 and 2011, the growth rate was over 10%. Still India had more poverty than Africa.

Those 13-14 million new babies (around 17 million in absolute terms) each year means providing new hospitals, schools, food, shelter, etc. on top the 1.2 billion populous.

I am against subsidy to everyone as i end up paying tax amounting to 30% of my hard earned money and in return i get higher prices, low quality roads, bad environment but those who dont pay tax gets free electricity, free water, subsidized gas, no income tax, reservations etc...and on top of that, we are asked to pay more taxes....remember service tax is increased.....for what?

Did i say decreasing the fuel prices? I only asked when the fuel prices were reduced, then why not the cost of the services dependent on the fuels were reduced? Isn't it proportional? Isnt it giving more profit in the pockets of transporters, etc etc by robbing me of the benefits of the reduced prices?

Population growth in India is pretty much under control. India is to reach replacement levels of fertility by 2020.
India to reach replacement levels of fertility by 2020 - The Hindu

Population of Nigeria > 173.6 million (2013)
Population of Pakistan > 182.1 million (2013)

Nominal GDP of Nigeria > 521.8 billion USD (2013)
Nominal GDP of Pakistan > 232.3 billion USD (2013)

Why be so selective? :coffee:
...

Simply because Pakistanis don't go around claiming their country is the upcoming Supa Powa even when the economy grows at around 8% at some intervals it's history.
