Long range sniper kill

If I remember correctly an article I read some 15 years ago, sniping majorly happens at OPs which are almost on the line and not at the fence. But you are right.. counter sniper drill need to be followed strictly..

These are known stuff. Over the years, this stopped. Indian soldiers must have become lax and taken the enemy for granted. This was totally avoidable. You need to see once what happens to a head when shot with a high calibre weapon. It gets watermeloned. In case of sniper fire, all diplomatic protocol should be dumped and only the higher caliber guns should speak in response aiming for the most probable locations. IR and thermal sensors need to be provided.

For example, India can unilaterally declare 10 km of the other side as a safe zone. Anyone there can be taken out. All actions will be covered under this. Sniper threat can be mitigated. In hilly regions, this threat acts as a multiplier.

Artillery. Read up the German field manuals on dealing with Russische Scharfschutze...
Light art does the job - bomb, force the sniper to relocate/seek cover - look for movement - eliminate. If the mortars don't do the job that is.

A special forces soldier took out an indian soldier at 905 meters with a barret light 50. at that range the Indians were totally shocked.

The special forces soldier was a graduate of PA's sniper school of excellence.

Don't you think it is necessary to publish at least a URL as a source to the claim, while your countrymen continuously rebut the Indian claim of a surgical claim which was made public by none other than DGMO.

True only on the battlefield. Remember, Pak snipers are not looking for using snipers in their original strategic role or even in the prized most essential tactical positions. They are being used for petty scoring. The purpose is already defeated.

But Indian heads will still be destroyed by their bullets. The situation won't favor them a bit. But we will be losing lives in peacetime.

All it would take is one member of the squad to radio the target locations to the Co HQ. Artillery will eliminate the sniper in no time.

No sniper will do that. Either they will take down isolated mistake making young Indian men. Or they will perform the attack in groups. To take out a squad of even a dozen men would require at least 3 snipers in the same location. Snipers are costly and usually each company will have 1 or 2. There is very little chance of 3 snipers to be in the same location. Unless the urge to kill is too high.

I have read and you need to know there is a difference between snipers and marksman.

Pakistan is well aware of the threat. Which is why they maintain no presence along the LoC. They relegate the responsibility to the mujaheedin. They are dispensable. Their losses don't count. Thermal systems along with guided missile systems should be sufficient for now. Otherwise local invasions can be tried out to eliminate the posts on the other side.

There was once a difference. Today, not so much. Chivalry is good for ball room parties. There are no marksmen. On any side. Only human beings with weapons and training to kill another.

I don't get why we aren't using GPS/Laser guided mortars/arty's. They are way too cheaper and way too convenient..
