Nato supply resumption: DPC kicks off 'long march' from Lahore today | Business Recorder

Difa-e-Pakistan Council (DPC) on Saturday announced its 'Long March' schedule against Nato supply resumption, according to which the march would commence from Lahore on Sunday (today) at 10am. The participants would make overnight stay at Gujrat and march towards Islamabad on Monday morning via Rawalpindi.

This was decided at the meeting of All Parties Conference (APC) held here at a local hall on Saturday and attended by representatives of as many as 50 political and religious parties. Among them eminent were Ameer Jamaat-i-Islami Pakistan, Syed Munawar Hasan, Ameer Jamaat-ud-Dawa Hafiz Muhammad Saeed, Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed, Lieutenant General Hameed Gul (Retd), Maulana Fazl-ur-Rahim, Maulana Tahir Mahmood Ashrafi, Khadim Hussain Dhillun, Allama Ibtisam Ilahi Zahir, Hafiz Abdul Ghaffar Ropri, Ameer Hamza, Qari Muhammad Yaqub, Maulana Abdur-Rauf Farooqui and Abdur Rahman Makki.

Talking to media persons, DPC chairman Maulana Sami-ul-Haq deplored that the US once again had openly flouted the security and autonomy of Pakistan by recent drone strikes in Waziristan. He lamented that the government had sold Pakistan's sovereignty and autonomy for $1.1 billion while the US and its allies were suffering a loss of billions of dollars per day.

He said the US had at once paid back Pakistan in shape of drone attacks and gifted Pakistan with 22 bodies including women and children. "Had the Parliament and the Supreme Court defended Pakistan, the situation would not have become so miserable," he added.

Maulana Sami-ul-Haq regretted that the DPC invited other political leaders including PML-N president Nawaz Sharif, PTI Chairman Imran Khan, JUI-F leader Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman and others to come forward for the defence of the country but no one attended the APC. "If anyone wants to lead the movement, we are ready to work under his leadership," he said. He categorically denied the notion that the DPC was working under the patronage of military or secret agencies and had political objectives.

All Parties Conference (APC) held under the umbrella of Difa-e-Pakistan Council (DPC) has come to an agreement on different issues regarding national autonomy, security and integrity. However, the priority would be given to get the US forces out of the region, vacated all air bases of Pakistan and blocked the drone attacks.

Earlier, Ameer Jamaat-i-Islami Pakistan Syed Munawar Hasan addressing the APC warned that if the nation would not get united on the issue, Pakistan would become a slave. He deplored that the rulers had set aside the Parliament resolutions and ignored the apex court decisions. He strongly reacted to the statement of Rehman Malik saying the government itself never obeyed any law. He reiterated his demand that the government should pull out of war on terror and formulate an independent foreign policy. He said the country was being pushed toward anarchy in order to eliminate Pakistan's nuclear programme.

The host of the APC, Hafiz Saeed appealed to masses to get united to transform Pakistan into a real autonomous and sovereign country. Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed, General Hameed Gul(r), Liaquat Baloch, Abdur-Rauf Farooqui, Ameer Hamza, Allama Ibtisam Ilahi Zaheer, Khadim Hussain Dhillun, Dr Syed Waseem Akhtar and others also spoke on the occasion.

With its capital as New Delhi! :cheesy:

But seriously, WTF are people like Generals Gul and Beg doing, mixed up with extremist organizations? Agreed that pensions are pretty lousy in the defence forces but that doesn't mean these fellas join these fringe organisations for there two minutes of fame and money. I wonder what salaries they are being paid by the DPC and other re-employment benefits? :P

It doesn't matter if I like them or not, its a question are you even worse than DPC that they would stand up FOR Pakistan and you would stand with its enemies killing innocent men, women and children.

Killing of 24 persons a gift to Pakistan: Khurshid

Islamabad—Naib Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan ex-Senator Prof. Khurshid Ahmad has described that the latest drone attack on North Waziristan and killing 24 persons is the first major gift to Pakistan after the Government’s disastrous decision to open supply routes to America and NATO Forces. “This clearly shows the total failure of the present Government’s so called strategy of engagements with the US”, he said in a statement issued here Saturday.

He added that things are changing fast and the Parliament and the nation should respond to protect its sovereignty and interests. He appealed to the nation to participate in the national protest which should continue till the Government stops this policy of surrender and humiliation and moves quickly towards new elections which could lead to change of leadership through democratic process.

Prof. Khurshid has also taken strong exception to the claim of the Foreign Minister and our Ambassador in the US that Pakistan has been able to get apology from the US. “The statement of Hillary Clinton was: “We are sorry for the loss suffered by the Pakistan military and that “Foreign Minister Khar and I acknowledge the mistakes that resulted in the loss of military lives” — this is not an apology but the slap on the face of Pakistan. The Wall Street General in its yesterday’s editorial has rightly described in one sentence that “Pakistan has paid the highest price for their early agreement”.

Prof. Khurshid while further reminding the Foreign Minister and people of Pakistan said that after the above statement of the US Secretary of State we find that there is no change in US policy and conceding to Pakistan’s demand, and reminded those who are trying to hoodwink.—NNI

Yeah like these idiots will do anything good..These idiots are the main reason we are in this mess today as these mullah groups gave refuge to terrorists.**** 'em.

Long march against NATO supply resumption to rid country of US forces: DPC

LAHORE: The Difa-e-Pakistan Council (DPC), holding an All Parties Conference (APC) on Saturday, said that its long march against the Nato supply resumption will be a show of “Islamic force” and a step ahead to rid the country of the US forces.

The DPC leaders, speaking to the media at a private hall in Lahore, announced final arrangements of the long march, which is expected to reach Islamabad in two days. The conference was hosted by the Jamatud Dawa (JuD) and chaired by DPC chairman Maulana Samiul Haq.

While the conference was attended by several religious parties, head of Awami Muslim League Sheikh Rasheed also participated in the conference as the only politician. Former Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) chief Hameed Gul and three former brigadiers, Nadir Mir, Hamid Saeed and Muhammad Hanif, were also present at the event.

The DPC chairman termed the supply resumption as an “insult to the Parliament for not keeping in view its recommendations”. On behalf of the APC participants, he demanded that the government step down.

JuD chief Hafiz Muhammad Saeed boasted that the DPC had a great role in the prolonged suspension of the Nato supply routes after the Salala incident, and added that the party will cleanse the region of the US forces once and for all. “I have apprehensions that if the Nato supply route is reopened, suicide attacks would start again and the US would make it a plea to prolong its stay in the region.”

Former ISI chief Hameed Gul added that the opening of supply routes would give America the power to attack any area of Pakistan in return for any damage to its material. The presence of the US is to keep China away from Pakistan, de-nuclearise, de-militarise and divide it, he added.

On the other hand, the leader of a DPC member party Tehreek Ghalba-e-Islam, Qari Mansoor Ahmed said that the blockade of Nato supplies would be a “real step to favour the Taliban”, and added that his party is fighting along the Taliban in Afghanistan against the US forces. “Cutting the supply line is an effective tool of jihad which we must attain.”

Haq, giving the details of the long march, said that they would proceed towards Islamabad through GT Road, starting from Nasir Bagh, Lahore, on Sunday at 10am. On Sunday night, the rally will reach Gujrat and would reach D Ground in Islamabad on July 9.

The DPC had also called Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N), Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) and Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (Fazl) to the APC, but they all refused the invitation.

The problem is that the government hasn't done a proper job explaining the NATO deal to the population, so extremists will fill the vacuum.

Story of Pakistan...

There is no explanation... They kept up the rona pitna about democracy and parliament and when push came to shove, they bypassed the Parliament. Seedha fraud hai.

The explanation is one and simple. Haramkhor hukumat, haramkhor general. DPC may have a pisspoor track record but what they are doing is right, you have to fight Islamabad's American writ on Pakistan to make Pakistan free and independent.

The game of chicken was getting out of hand. At the end of the day, the US is a superpower and the Pakistani government has to think rationally rather than emotionally. The US offered an olive branch with Hillary's apology and it was right for Pakistan to reciprocate and resume the relationship. The decision to drop the NATO fees was also smart; otherwise Pakistan would have been portrayed as a sellout.

This way Pakistan stood firm, got the apology and, like a gentleman keeping his word, kept its part of the bargain.
