My personal belief is the gap between USA and China is still substantial. I don't want to use the word the "West" because outside of USA the West (mainly Euro region), the gap is very narrow. In fact I would say within 10 years, China will leapfrog everyone except USA in technological base. Only sour grape, mindless trolls actually use stealing to undermine China's ability to progress. Everyone does it throughout history. It's part of nation-state progressing due to competition. Stealing is part of human natural instinct to adapt and exceed at it. In fact, stealing or reverse engineering is an art form in itself. To look and observe a complex system and put them together is not an easy task by any means. China, USA, and Russia are the three best country at doing it.
