Lockheed Martin CEO to meet Modi next Week to push for F-16 Sale

Why would Congress oppose it? Both parties are incredibly pro-India and would love to pawn off this outdated product on them.

Has a slghtly better chance than the F-16, so around 3%.

It is still a concept awaiting international orders but there is little to devlop it is basically a stripped down C-130J, the IAF has a rathe rlarge requirement to replace the 100+ An-32s and with the MTA nowhere to be seen the C-130XJ made in India would suit them well.

so if the c130 xj is a concept then possibly they may be able to join develop/manufacture them?

as for the f16 lm is embarrassing them selfs offering it to india.
i like the f18 it will have the same engines as the lca mk2 and possibly the amca.

Well there isn't much development to be done but what little there is maybe India can get involved. On the manufacturing front, considering the requirements and the GoI rules local production in India would go without saying.

It doesn't change the fact that neither the IAF nor IN are interested in it and that the IAF had rejected the F-18SH in the MMRCA.

C130J still has a chance
We might buy another 12 of them to deal with the problems being faced by the ageing AN-32 fleet

We might also buy 76 ASW Helis from LM
But not the F16

It's gonna have to be a LOT more than that with the 100+ An-32 fleet limping along (>30% has already been cannibalized) and their replacment (MTA) all but dead.

Is he going to push the F-16 for Pakistan? perhaps, it would make sense!

accept the offer,
then dump them across the border. :D
yeah show us the green bills please:tup:
LM CEO will have a good cup of tea specially made by PM NaMo. He can have tea and talk whatever he wants..
But we wont buy F16s...
Should have a factory to manufacture but export it to pakistan ,singapore....etc. Remember enron..we should pay them back in the same coin.

LM desperation to make money from its old platform is waste of time for both (India n Pak) but Pak has inducted so it make sense for us,having said this F35 could be a good offer for India with assembly lines .But big question remains Indian manufacturing hubs are troubled with absorbing tech from Russia but Americans tech is more complex ,lets see it will be interesting to see.

God sake how many times they going to put lipstick on the pig?? LM need to offer a joint project to get our mouths watering and not some 1970s relic!

I dont understand this. Why would India choose a platform to build which is already more than 40 years old? At a time when newer platforms with better capability to adopt future integration of modern weapons and systems are available.

The case of Pakistan and F-16s is different. Pakistan has been flying F-16s since 1984. In case of India, it will be adopting a new platform which is already past its prime.

They are offering, no one in India is listening.
