Load-shedding leads to riots in Pakistan

Instead of using nuclear power for building nuclear weapons, it would have been better if it was used for energy generation! But then remember what ZA Bhutto said? Pakistanis will have nuclear weapons even if the people have to eat grass!

So now, why crib? If industries cannot run, it would result in loss of jobs, which would mean no money for food, which boils down to eating grass! QED!

For all the Indians jumping over here, Let me tell you that Pakistan still has more power generation capacity than it needs. Its just bad governance and corruption on part of Zardari Govt. that load shedding is getting out of control.

@orion troll... the new reactors are for civilian purposes... get a life.
Firstly, get a dictionary to check the definition of 'troll'! Secondly, I've already got a life which is going fine! Thirdly, US state department had earlier asked China to clarify the details of its sale of additional nuclear reactors to Pakistan. "This appears to extend beyond co-operation that was grandfathered when China was approved for membership in the Nuclear Suppliers Group," it said.

China explained that these reactors are under supervision of the International Atomic Energy Agency, but I doubt it since the IAEA has so far been kept out of the loop.

Now do you get what I'm getting at? Nuff said.

If so, then why get two more additional reactors from China? Hmmm...Suspicious, what?

I wish this could happen here in India's smaller cities as well. It happened once with a friend of mine whose colony people gathered lathis and pummeled the electricity board state authorities around 8 years back and threatened to lynch them. After that the powercuts reduced from 8 hours a day to 1-2 hours... Became a big political issue and the local MP wet his pyjamas hearing what happened and came to appease the colony people.

It should happen. These lazy wastrels deserve to be beaten to work or get lynched.

Good move Pakistan. Your people are finally fed up and fighting for your rights as tax paying citizens.

This load shedding is artificial. It is not summer anymore. Pakistan has an installed capacity of 21000 MW and the max demand is 16000 MW. So why the loadshedding?

PM feared riots over power crisis

PM is so so innocent man lolz i think its one of the major problems if Pakistan and he call a meeting today as he don't know there is shortage of power lolz hahahaha

anyone who provide 24/7 power he will deserve to select 3 times lolz

Pakistan have sufficient coal reserve and water reserve to fullfill the entire country needs then why the government in pakistan not doing on this area

Clean and cheap source of electricity perhaps. Here read the following link. This provides the total installed capacity and share of each source. The total capacity is 19,855 MW whereas the current requirement is 14550 MW. This should clear any misconception you people have about pakistan's energy crises.

Pakistan: Total Power Generation Capacity 19,855. Demand: 14,500 MW. Why the Load Shedding Then? « ALAIWAH!

In a way, I want to let these riots continue.. more anarchy... lets see what it brings..
People need to break in country... unless they break.. they will not change a thing.
Unfortunately... only the poor have been breaking.. and the end result of that will be a nightmare for the rich folks. Every Mercedes seen will be stoned and torched.
Government vehicles will be hit.. as they are already.

Question is, will the Army step in again to "save the nation" ??

The major problem in our part of the world of electricity stealing and losses in transmission. We are still using 20-30 years old transformers and hanging wires.

there should be protest against loadshedding , corruption but it must be peaceful ...... but here people damage the public and private properties and make the economy of country worst .......... i remembered when BB was murdered Pak faced losses of billion of rupees in few days because of the damaged due to protests and looting

BTW no load sheding in half pakistan lolz all hotels gov high profile offices malls markets computer related works use backup power generators .only poors suffer from this mess .we have two sugar mills near our town both use own power plants lolz they know gov is nothing but mess.

Generators/Invertors/UPS run on water? They consume diesel/extra electricity for recharge. Add maintenance costs and hassles like space/pollution/noise/health hazards due to poorly sealed batteries. For runnings ACs/PC/Refrigerator etc one needs to invest huge amount on bulky hardware.

But, Santro, the mass riots will only be successful if one of the two points are followed i.e

1- The riots take place on a truly massive scale, and the people mobilize with a genuine cause, and dont do that, larkay shughal laga rahay hain thing.

2- If it is not mass scale, then the lives of the people in charge should be directly afflicted, e.g PM's house in Multan, some demonstrations in Multan, Larkana and such.

Burning rescue vehicles and grid stations is not a good thing.

We do have ample resources and structure to generate electricity, but some non-paying of taxes
