Lenovo overtakes Dell as No. 2 PC brand

Indians probably think Thermo Electron, Agilent and Shimadzu are tiny no name companies and Tata, Reliance and Wipro are big giant global brands

I don't think so Reliance, Wipro, Tata or any of your company are International brand. They are for specific country/people.

I don't use any product of Reliance but I do use Microsoft to LG, Nokia to Sony. Honda to Visa. Got my point ??

I am giving you example.

SAMSUNG or Microsoft or Apple - It covers each and every part of the world. Everyone knows and billions of users.

Whatever companies you mentioned, I heard 1st time. Half of the world don't even know about Wipro, Infy, Reliance, Tata too.

It's not about big but International brand which is used in every corner of the world.

i have never heard of any indian brand.
do they even have their own compaines in india?

Yes, we don't have any International product like Microsoft or Apple or LG or Samsung which everyone knows and buys. We never claimed also.

Then by your logic, Hersheys Chocolate and Heinz Ketchup are better and more high tech than Thermo Electron, Agilent and Shimadzu. Apple is better and more high tech than Teradyne and Applied Materials.

Except Lenovo, none of them are great brands.

Why don't you ask the Europeans how Huawei, ZTE and Haier are doing???

They may not penetrate U.S. market that well yet due to U.S. policy. They are indeed great brands.

Thanks to IBM.

It had the 3rd largest share when Lenovo took over.

You don't know about the branch that doesn't mean the branch isn't great.

You have to say IBM is just so smart by dumping thinkpad while working on its core advantage. Look at its share prices. Even buffett bought a lot of them recently.

Lenovo's success has some with thinkpad's integration. However, most of its success has nothing to do with that. Isn't two or three years ago many people attributed lenovo's financial setbacks to buying ibm's laptop division???

Thanks to IBM.

It had the 3rd largest share when Lenovo took over.
