Lenovo Mobile targets 20% sales increase next year
PT Global Selular Networks (GSN), the authorized distributor of China-based Lenovo mobile phones, is targeting to increase sales 20 percent in 2012 from around 100,000 units in 2011.
GSN sales and marketing director Charles Sigarlaki said the company would launch about 10 new smartphones in 2012 to meet the target.
Meanwhile, Lenovo Mobile launched its latest medium-end Android smartphone, the Lenovo A60, on Thursday.
We are targeting to sell around 15,000 units of the Lenovo A60 in the next three months, Charles told The Jakarta Post on Thursday over the telephone.
The Lenovo A60 runs on Androids Gingerbread (version 2.3) operating system version with a 3.5-inch multi-touch screen.
With a screen measuring 116.5x59.9x13.2 millimeters, the A60 has a 3.2-megapixel camera with 320x480-pixel resolution, WiFi, GPS, a G-sensor, a USB 2.0 port and Bluetooth.
Charles added that the company would launch a new Android smartphone in Indonesia in January or February.
We are still conducting tests and assessments prior to launching in January or February next year, Charles told reporters during the launch in Central Jakarta
The company would also offer phones with Androids Honeycomb (version 3.0) and Ice Cream Sandwich (4.0) operating systems next year, Charles said.
Lenovo Mobile has sold 100,000 units in Indonesia since it entered the local market in March with the Lenovo E156, A150, Q320, Q350 and Q330 all low-price mobile phones.
Charles said that Lenovo Mobile would expand its offerings to include medium-end Android smartphones before bringing its high-end model, LePhone, to Indonesia in 2012.
Lenovo Mobile launched LePhone in China and previously said it would not expand sales to other countries until it sold 1 million units.
Charles said GSN would open 7 additional service centers in Indonesia in 2012, to bring its total to 20.
GSN currently has after-sales service centers in Jakarta, Bandung, Surabaya, Semarang, Medan, Palembang, Jambi, Manado, Yogyakarta, Pontianak, Aceh, Padang and Pekanbaru. (drs)
