I think they are getting something new for mk2.

LCA Mk1 is hardly 4th gen. it will replace Mig 21 A 3RD GEN FIGHTER. ONLY LCA MK2 onwards will be true 4th gen plane. F-35 is 5th gen. 2+2=4 wise ***!

So if I replace my 30 year old ambassador with a Ferrari they are both of the same generation.

And as for F35, it is simply a lesson for us Indians that development of new aircraft is not easy. With all their experience and massive budgets, it's an absolute disaster of a project
