I forgot to add that the launch vehicle is not 100% indigenous either。

As a matter of fact，it is not even 50% indigenous with，for example，the cryogenic engine being Russian。

I am sitting infront of TV with my son and explaining to him about that narrow "window" which is very essential for journey to "Mangal". Can you please explain what is that window means? 
So if you weigh 70 Kg on earth, you will weigh 27 Kg on "Mangal"!!

India could not have afforded their kind of financing.
Mangalyaan lacks a rocket large enough to fire the satellite directly out of the earth's atmosphere ,so instead of flying directly to mars the 350 tonne rocket will orbit earth for 20-25 days,build up the necessary velocity to break free from the earth's pull.
Ohh ISRO....
