We have huge oil and gas reserves in Sindh and Baluchistan. Question is, when we'll start using our resources for good. Poor governance, corrupt rulers and mis-management is everywhere in our sorry tale. Take Sandak Gold project as an example.
So who do you think can come in and be the "massiah" and cure all evil in Pakistan?? Please don't tell me IK. The guy can barely keep a mob together, forget about keeping an entire country with thousands of issues together. And the military doesn't know how to do oil exploration either, just to set the context.
But do name someone. By keep repeating the same problem over and over doesn't solve anything. Let's bring some substance out so the readers can try to understand who can help fix this mess!
BTW, in Pakistan's entire current portfolio of politicians, the best ones are already at work through votes from the people. And they've been doing a LOT of work without corruption at the higher level like it used to be the case in Pakistan. Let me know if you'd like to see a list of projects.
By the way, its not the reserve, Pakistan doesn't have a few thing in its favor yet:
1) O&G found at a proper depth. Extra drilling cost a LOT more, and in Pakistan's case, thousands of meters of extra drilling so if something would cost you $ 80.00 internally, you could pay $ 50.00 from the outside and get oil for much cheaper.
2) Quality of oil, if the fuel doesn't burn correctly and there is a lot of other chemical substances mixed in oil molecules, Pakistan doesn't have proper chemical deciphering plants in place to a degree it needs them, which would perform molecule synthesis to refine the oil and take other chemicals out.
3) Proper infrastructure and technology overall. The country is now making headway in this area, with older tech. You guys don't use SAR radars for O&G exploration, etc, along with other expensive equipment.
All the above pay a role in why certain projects are started and then stopped.
