Lankan minister threatens Tamils of massacre

He can surely appear for Civil services exam using Tamil medium, we made that law back in 1950.

That's good! One of my Tamil friend from TN once told Tamil police officer/ school teachers can't take a transfer for other state etc..

The law was passed without the consent of Tamil minority. Am I right?? Tamil was given official status much later when Sri Lanka realized their mistake.

Even majority of Sinhalese in struggle to kick "English" out of it status, less using languages don't get priority.

Hindi is official language in India, what about implementing sign boards with Hindi, English then regional language of that state? I don't see Tamils in TN are interested to learn Hindi even though it's their official language.

Any road sign come with Hindi/English/Tamil in Tamilnadu ? or any other state ? (I have no idea about this, like to see some pic. anyone can post a pic for me? )

School Teacher:- Education come under concurrent list means both Federal government and state government have responsibility. So, if a guy is working for gov. Schools run by Pan-India education board CBSE then he can be transferred anywhere. Schools run by state government under state board has jurisdiction in state only.

Police:- IPS(Indian Police Services) officers are all-India recruits through civil services exam can be transferred anywhere in India where as other posts are recruited by state government.

YOu tamils better stop dreaming about Eelam. Get over it. You are a part of India. Be good citizens and let the Malus build a new dam. YOu want folks to shed a tear for you guys but we all see how hard headed you guys can be. WHo the hell commits suicide for a CM? Are you kidding me?

more than 5 languages--->

in indian we have so many dialects, religion, culture, languages, food style, climate and its too diverse and big in land area.....but then too we have UNITY IN DIVERSITY....don't try to divide it with your anti-indian comments!!

and india usually follows 2 language and 3 language policies and even some states in north-east they use 7 language policy for sign boards.....generally (english with regional dialect).......world should learn the community tolerences from india...its our ancient rich culture which has taught this to us!!

do not dilute the topic at hand with your off topic ranting.
Besides the DAM issue is a political one and let the elected leaders from both side find a ammicable sollution. Also remember that the central pannel who examind the dam have approved the safty of the dam. So get back to the topic where a man is calling for genocide on humanity. For God sake show some solidarity for a community that is being verbally threatened.

I have answered above, Tamils live in around the country also there are Moors who fluent in Sinhala and Tamil languages so they aren't alone anywhere in the country.

So the 'whole country feeling' doesn't hold much water in SL either as it forces citizens to be fluent in more than one language to be able to survive anywhere in the country unlike in countries like Thailand, Japan etc where knowledge of one language is sufficient.

IF X group live around the country then X group need to use another language to survive any where in that country? Now clear? :P so X group don't need to depend on another language, one language is enough!

This thing is not possible in India, it's a natural thing when we consider about India. I can understand it well :)

So whats the difference b/n India & SL. I as a Keralite have to learn Tamil to work in TN & a Tamil have to learn Malayalam to work in Kerala. This is same for a Tamil or Sinhala working in each other's regions.

It's the result of living in different blocks.
Example, let's imagine Kerala + Tamilnadu = Sweetland (or what ever)

Then imagine in this "Sweetland" both kerala people and Tamil people live everywhere. when the people get mixed and live around the sweetland, Do Kerala people need to learn Tamil?

So you want to impose Malayalam on Tamils.
