Yeah I studied with them actually he is SL tamils not a refugee his brother was a LTTE cadre. I am from south TN so in my childhood I had seen many LTTE cadres with their uniform and weapons.

Previously they thought that India will help them to form separate Eelam , and they expected Indian tamils to pressurize GOI regarding that issue. And they hoped that India won't support Buddhists at any cost but everything gotten ruined.

First of all there are no areas called "Tamil Areas" in Sri Lanka. There are Tamil percentage is higher areas and Moor percentage higher areas it does not mean these areas are their homeland. Sinhalese are the only native people belongs to Sri Lanka, we don't have any other country than Sri Lanka!!!

This minister is representing minor sinhalese party this party doesn't have more than 300,000 votes. XD

Some people are talking about equal rights about Tamils, there are no special rights to majority sinhalese. Tamil is just one ethnic only in sri lanka. There are some other ethnic minorities are here too.

Sri Lankan population- We categories in to main 4 ethnic groups in the birth certificate here, and there are also some other ethnic but they have very less percentage malays, burger, and sri lankan Chinese etc.

Sinhalese around 75%

Then we identify 2 groups who joined to our land in dutch era.

Sri Lankan Tamils around 10% (In northern province Tamils population 9 lakhs, it's around 4.2% percentage of whole population of SL)
Sri Lankan Moors around 8%

Then we gave the Sri Lankan citizenship to second Tamil group who brought to Sri Lanka by British. Sri Lanka wanted to send them back but Tamilnadu and India refused to take them back, finally India accept half of them so rest of them became sri lankan citizens. They are the 4th ethnic group in SL.

Indian Tamils around 4%

other ethnics,

Sri Lankan Burger
Sri Lankan Malay
Sri Lankan Chinese
etc

People who do not know about these facts think there is one category called "Tamils" in SL. Any citizen can become PM or President of Sri Lanka, there is no rule there should be a Sinhalese president. There were Tamil and Moor presidential candidate in previous election too, go to sri lanka election website you can all of their names there. Our former FM got higher chance of becoming next PM but what happened? Tamil Tiger terrorists killed him! Just check how many Tamil MPs are killed by Tamil Tigers. Can any one mention a list of Tamil MPs killed by SL Army?????

btw, I see many active responds from Indian Tamilnadu Tamils here. XDXD it makes me laugh every time when I see those. You guyz don't have any rights in our land Sri Lanka. Mind your own business Indians!

Look those areas are traditionally Tamil areas, where Tamils are living from 2nd century BC.. A china-hongkong model is greatly applicable in the areas..

Nope, Tamil first group which we consider "Sri Lankan Tamils" mainly happened in dutch period there were some due to south Indian invades. People can live but they can't claim those areas are their "homeland". Sinhalese are the only native people in Sri Lanka from Jaffna to southen tip of Sri Lanka.

There are no act called "Sinhala Only act" these are just words just like "genocide" "equal rights" used by some racists! Actually this is "National Language act" There wasn't any Tamil or Sinhala language as national language at that time. English was the national language, English speaking Tamils and English speaking Sinhalese protest against this act. But majority Sinhalese wanted their lost rights back! That's what happened! what's wrong with doing Sinhala as national language almost 90%+ can use it well. Now Sinhala and Tamil both are official language.

India has no national language...
Official languages are used for usage for central govt officials... Hindi are majority so hindi is official lang.. And english are used for communication purposes in case, some official dont know hindi...
In TN and other states, their respective languages are used...
