In this case Malayalam will loose out to Tamil as there are double the number of Tamils when compared to Keralites. So inorder to have this 'whole country feeling' the minority language has to be sacrificed for the sake for the majority language..No Thanks, Indian system works fine for us where even the smallest minority is protected and at the same time national integration is promoted.

The sri lankans have beaten the tamils on the battlefield and should realize that to totally defeat the tamils they need to be a bit smarter.A good move would be to make a tamil the prime minister or president and give more political power the group.In the tamil areas make every signpost in dual languages,fill the airwaves with tamil programmes,teach the kids in dual language and so on.This will leave no room for the tamil separatist to operate in.
The best example is what the british govt did in wales.

What good will happen if a Tamilian became Sri Lankan prime minister? We had a Tamil Foreign Secretary and even a Chattier as our president (J.R. Jayawardene). It didn't solve anything!

And AFAIK currently Tamils in SL have those mentioned benefits but does that made their problems disappear? No!

The issues Tamil people face are just as same as what Sinhalese people face. The real problem is not lie in the ethnicity but in economics.
