Western auto makers heavily depend on the Chinese market for growth.

Both countries should develop their own auto industries by banning western brands.

Auto is not a strategic industry so western auto makers should be heavily crushed. EU and Japan depend heavily on their auto industry. It creates a lot of direct jobs and even greater amount of indirect jobs.

Germany and Japan needs their auto industry to grow their economy. Hit Germany and that will hit the EU indirectly and destroy the EU.

Russia can withstand much more pain than EU. EU is a fragile union and when people lose jobs the EU population will riot and wreck havoc and chaos in the EU.

That would help China because then China can kick out Western companies and give domestic companies full access to the 2nd largest consumer market (soon to be number 1) and fastest growing consumer market that is China.

The Western companies need the Chinese market far more than China needing Western markets. Chinese growth is now driven by domestic consumption and investment. This is why the Chinese economy grew fast even when exports to the West collapsed.

US also needs China to buy up all the printed US dollars and keep it as reserves to keep inflation low in the US. PBOC has been the biggest buyer of US dollars and no one outside the US can replace the PBOC buying.

US putting tariffs on Chinese goods means US consumers get destroyed and the main driver of the US economy (consumption) crashes.

I wonder if you'd still be so enthusiastic about all that when you are out buying things especially when you also have the option to purchase 'made in China crap' at a much lower cost for the same quality.
