MILITARY COOPERATION: Pakistan Embassy charge d’affaires Khayyam Akbar and Rear Admiral Ghasham Menahi Al-Qahtani with naval officers aboard PNS Mujahid.
KSA, Pakistan hold naval drill
The Royal Saudi Navy and the Pakistan Navy have conducted a joint training exercise at Jubail Islamic port, reflecting the increasingly close relationship between the two friendly countries.
The exercise involved the participation of approximately 50 naval officers from both sides.
Group Captain Asad Ibrahim told Arab News on Thursday that “more than 25 naval officers from both the countries took part in an offshore goodwill training exercise recently to further enhance bilateral military cooperation.”
The joint exercise was followed by a reception dinner hosted at the Pakistani Navy Ship (PNS) Mujahid, which was also attended by Khayyam Akbar, charge d’affaires at the Pakistani embassy in Riyadh, and Admiral Ghasham Menahi Al-Qahtani, the Eastern Fleet commander of the Royal Saudi Navy.
Speaking at the occasion, Akbar highlighted the growing military relationship between the Kingdom and Pakistan: “We have stood by each other through thick and thin, and such a joint exercise demonstrates the value of our friendship,” he said.
Applauding a very “strong and deep rooted military relationship,” Akbar also gave thanks for the attendance of various diplomatic missions to the ceremony, along with a large number of Saudi officers.
