I would beg to differ......
If the kashmiri people wanting freedom are "just a minority" then the indian govt would win a UN vote on the issue ,wouldn't they?
LOL......if the indian govt thought it could win an election on the issue of JK joining india it would have held one back when the indian govt went to the UN and nehru promised a referendum to the kashmiri people.......but even then you did not take the risk.

Tommorow if India says that Lahore belongs to India and lets have a referendum...Would you like that?

You seem to forget it was india that went to the UN not pakistan and said they wanted to hold a plebiscite on kashmir.

Ps there is not mass protest movement in lahore that wants to join india for the last 60 odd years.

You are not getting my point..suppose if tommorow Hindus in Pakistan start protesting to joing India then should whole of Pakistan be converted to India?..If your answer is no then thats exactly what my point is..Why should we Dogras,Sikhs,Gujjars,Kashmiri Pandits,Bakarwals,Ladakhis be asked to join Pakistan just to keep Kashmiri Muslims happy??

Pebliscite cannot happen anymore, if Punjab and bengal were divided and we are ok with it, lets just declare the LOC as border and call it quits, Militarily pakistan wont get an Inch from India and diplomatically India wont give and inch of land. India doesn't have the will or the interest to invade pakistan for kashmir.

Hence call the LOC as border, and give special rights to kashimir people like porous borders, reservations in both countries, ease of travel. Rehabilitate the militants and extremist in both countries and put behind this madness.

India will keep 2-3 divisions of forces in the valley till there is apprehensions of extremist's or PA forward deployments. When any land is heavily militarized, human rights are thrown out of the window, Local civilians will be harassed by both the fighting parties.
Instead of continiung this madness, pull out the troops, demarcate and delineate the borders, for a joint confidence building body and ensure that kashmiri civilians irrespective of thier religions's rights are preserved on both sides of the border.

The only "demographic change" i can think of is families like mine and thousands of others that have crossed the LOC and where given new homes in AJK.

Sikhs in india have wanted freedom from india and so have other groups but you dont get me going on about it....its an indian problem.....they choose one way or another to join india the kashmiris did not......and thats my point.
I cant understand what you indians are scared off,one minute your telling me that the kashmiris love india but the next your not willing to put it to a vote as you promised.

I never met a Kashmiri who ever called himself/herself Indian. Its only Indians who so badly want Kashmiris to be Indian. Ask a Kashmiri if they are Indian, they will simply say NO, NEVER!

Indian is synonymous for Hindustani. No Pakistani calls Kashmiris "Indian" or "Hindustani".

All my kashmiri friends call themselves Indian, I have at least 6 of them in regular touch and through them many more that I know of

plebiscite no possible because if kashmir should belong to pakistan, then even bangladesh should get a share. how will that be managed?
