Karzai wants US to protect Afghanistan from Pakistan

Dude, you are senior member, dont let patriotism cloud your analysing of a situation - the taliban have been reduced to a hit and run terrorist group and this time round like last time PA and other armed Pakistani mujahadeen cannot be sent to their aid to fight a civil war in AFG. Last time the US and petro dollars flowed into Pakistan to foment the civil war and this time round Pakistan is under watch and is being monitored and not in a financial situation to repeat the same that was done in the 90's - the best the Haqqanis and taliban can do is blow up civilians and use suicide bombers.

TTP have scored more hits in Pakistan in the last few years compared to Afghans killed by Taliban and haqqani network including more Pakistani forces compared to Afghan forces but have they been able to run down whole Pakistan? the best they can do is hold on to the tribal north - the same will happen with Taliban, they will hold on to their strong hold areas and occasionally blow themselves up in city centers.

As James Dobbins said the taliban are in no position to take over AFG and neither are the ANA in any position to completely exterminate the taliban.

We shall wait and see, Let afghan taliban do their job like they have been doing till now.

Dont keep your hopes too high while you are waiting. They are in no position to repeat the scenario.

Title should be.

"Karzai wants America to save N.alliance from Pakistan."

Uloo ka patha!

The question to be asked is why is pakistan anti northern alliance, just becuase they are from minority tajik and uzbek community.... Why is Pakistan hellbent on making Afghanistan a majority dominated government, isn't that the same fear on which pakistan was formed....

Pressler amendment, or any similar legislation won't matter one bit anymore. It was designed to clip our wings, we don't care anymore.

From now onwards, they need our geo-location more that we would ever need them. We have seen both sides of the US of A's friendship, and have become mortally allergic to it.

Are you waiting for Pressler's Amendment version 2.

Afganistan is a free country and like it or not Karzai is its President and he has every right to ask for a mutual security pact. The last i checked one if their neighbors had signed a Mutual Defence Assistance agreement with the same country and now the same people are talking **** abt him 4 taking such a move.

WHAT AN IRONY

we like it, the most joke producing president after Bush

Pakistan gives 2 hoots to different waring factions one way or the other.

What really matters is "who is running the Kabul government" and how the Kabuli government is interacting with Pakistan.

Pakistan does not have a border dispute or some religious dispute with Afghanistanis.

Any emphasis on NA simply highlights Afghanistani infighting.

@Abii,
Truly disappointed with your views in this thread. You SHOULD know Iran enjoys a lot of support in this forum. You should know that, nutjobs notwithstanding, Shias have historically enjoyed prominence in Pakistan.
Pakistan has its share of nutjobs--and they are most likely supported to at least some extent by foreign forces. These nutjobs target ALL segments of the society--and not just Shias. Their actions are not cheered.
But, trust me, Pakistan is not in the pockets of some 'Wahabbi' Arabs.

All Pakistan wants in Afghanistan is a govt. which doesn't force Pakistan to deploy tens of thousands on its Western borders.

We do not have to explain that to anyone, the fact that we have a shia president should shut people up, other wise, haters gonna hate.
