@Desert Fox but then these guys will ultimately reach gwadar or any other such city and the same thing will happen there.
That is not a solution.
A temporary one at max.

No, that would be very difficult for them since Gwadar is a relatively new city and well planned. Its comparatively smaller than Karachi in size and population which can be easily monitored and has a well established security apparatus. It is also of strategic significance to the military and thus would pose a challenge for any criminal organization to take refuge in and establish themselves there.

The plan that i proposed needs careful execution and everything has to be thought out before hand and safety measures need to be placed carefully so as to control any fallout once the operation has commenced.

There are few illegal katchi abadis in Karachi...i' am pretty damn sure if a sincere operation is launched against these katchi abadis Karachi issue will vanish as if it never existed before. The thing is a person who is sincere & knows the ground reality of Karachi should be given the task of establishing peace, law & order in Karachi not ganwars fake degree holders from nooras.

So you expect the same politicians who are involved to solve the problem? You can only "de-politicize" the police by getting a non-political (neutral) force involved.

My understanding is that for the sake of country and democracy, the same politicians who we paint as bad all the time, should be pursued to do the job, by THE PEOPLE.. its in their own interest as well, since these thug warriors are somewhat out of control as well, have placed their own designs as well, if Shebaz sharif did this, despite direct clash with his own party's interest, it should and can be done in Karachi as well... a bit of media blackout required as well.

bringing army is politicizing and corrupting it, and putting it in with direct clash with certain political parties, previously it failed and all they have is bad blood between them now, secondly it serves army's own motives,

on a different option, we can get assistance from some other country's force as well for operation. say Saudi arbia or Brazil or Turkey, while intelligence agency provide eyes, they do the job...

and above all it requires sincerity to do the operation across the board.. when Babar did, he didnt even spare PPP militants...he got the free hand...

this is a propaganda too that only a person who knows Karachi can do the right operation..anyone can acquire information about Karachi and its dynamics within weeks to do the operation. it only requires will and honesty. and yes you are right about slums and the immigrants, its a problem created by IDPs from FATA, direct economic clash with the karachites, hence the tussle.

Thats not propaganda...Sir...but reality. PPP send in their Zulfiqar Mirza what did he achieved? Now noora is conducting operation but what are the results? I won't say that no outsider can clean this mess in Karachi but i know it is next to impossible to find someone from outside Karachi who can clean this mess.

Its not a question of having a well planned city with smaller size and population.
Its about having the will or desire to change Karachi.

Karachi is far more organized than Bombay which is very haphazard. And Bombay has a large area under slums - not just kachi abadi. And law and order there was worse than Karachi in the 90's. Bombay police with the support of Bombay politicians stopped the armed and politically affiliated gangs because everyone decided it was better to have a peaceful city. They started a campaign, every gang leader there was shot in cold blood in fake encounters. The entire city knew about it, the entire country knew about it. They all supported the cops. The result has been a clean Bombay.

The challenges are simpler in Karachi. Its just that Karachi Police Dept needs to have the backing of the local political parties and they will work wonders. They need to be supported. The only thing stopping it is whether your political parties want bloodshed to end in Karachi or not. or Whether they want the bloodshed of their own gangs to be stopped. There is a difference between saying something in front of the public and actually wanting it.

there is a difference between bombay situation and karachi situation

the political leaders of karachi don't represent the federal where as bombay does, the gangs cannot be eliminated when the police which is also not under control of the local leaders are hand in glove with the gangs

the gangs and police together run the drug trafficking, weapons smuggling and patronise those criminals

there is local government in india, there is none in karachi

@Contrarian The violence, particularly gun violence in mumbai even the 90s was a fraction of karachi. Gun culture never took root and mumbai is 10 times smaller and an island that the police could lock down.

There is no doubt karachi job is much more difficult. in karachi political parties are involved. I need not tell hpw much worse that makes matters.

.
Thank god India does not have gun culture ..or else god knows what our political parties would have made us into ...

You know whats ironic is that the Tribal Areas once used to be one of the safest places in the country or so some of the people who visited them tell me !

Indeed they were, i can tell you that from personal experience as a child. Now people are afraid to go to DI Khan, places like TANK to door ke bat hain. I took a few friends for hunting in D.I Khan on the property a famous Gandapur, and throughout the journey they were shitting bricks...

Shame :(

When I visited Peshawar last year I so wanted to go to visit Khyber Agency & see what the Agencies were like ! :D

But my Uncle - who lives in Peshawar - wouldn't let us go there saying that it wasn't safe ! :(

Apparently it also had something to do with me wearing a pair of shorts ! :woot:

I Agree, I by myself belongs to Orakzai Agency and trust me it was safer than any other place in Pakistan, and more than that, it is hell beautiful area. Residents of tribal areas was so protective towards the people who were coming there for visit and really the respect you got there was awesome, it was totally misconception that if someone other than Pasthuns will go there they will be kidnapped or abducted, even I know lot of foreigners who went there. Wish the old time comes back..
