Jordan
Main Battle Tanks (MBTs)
404 Al-Hussein 120mm MBT [6]
274 Al-Khalid 120mm Upgraded MBT
262 Phoenix (Upgraded M60A3) 120mm MBT
82 M60A1 Converted to Al-Monjed ARV
293 Tariq (converted to MAP II Heavy Armored APCs)
90,000 active 65,000 reserve
Chemical weapons nil.
Syria
4,950 Main battle tanks (including 1,150 in storage) inc T-72's
220,000 active 280,000 reserves.
Chemical weapons: Sarin, Tabun, VX, and mustard gas
Allowance would have to be made for the up to 60,000 syrian troops that are reported to have joined the FSA.
Though numerically and equipment wise the syrians would appear to have a distinct advantage over Jordan. Jordan would fight with a secure rear while syria would be fighting with an unknow number of insurgents opperating behind it.
It might be a battle Syria can win but it is not one in the current situation that it can afford to fight, pulling the army out of the cities to confront Jordan would mean giving up most of the country to the FSA.
