Jordan declines to purchase Pak wheat

This is a classic slap on the "ummah chumma brotherhood"

Everyone wants hard cash!
Pakistan would be better off cutting such a deal with African countries in exchange of raw materials, phosphates and crude oil..or even better exchange the wheat with India.

jordan's expectation of quality is reasonable
why bring in religion for selling sub-standard products ??

At least your country has warehouses.

In India, the construction/capacity of warehouses has been left far behind by production of wheat and grains. Around 30% of our entire production is stored in the open and rots away much earlier because there is no storage capacity.

it has been that way since the 1980s

I am surprised. You guys have some of the best wheat growing lands in the sub-continent.

Why would Jordan do this?

The wheat when harvested is great. After a few months in poor storage, it is not. To bring it up to international quality standards would require additional expense which makes it non-competitive against alternative sources.

Logical suggestion...rather than having the crop rot in warehouses...
I am not kidding when I say this. I have seen foodgrains rot outside government warehouses in India while the govt. warehouse for the foodgrains had been rented out to an alcohol company to store its liquor.

Why so?
additional expense to bring it on par with international standard is something only we will have to pay? wont the others be required to bring there product upto the same level?

Wheat is best stored in proper grain silos, not warehouses.

We have also had cases of crops rotting when corrupt officials have stored liquor instead of grains inside silos

This is dangerous as precious food is getting wasted on both sides.

It is better to incur additional cost and make it saleable internationally than to let it rot with poor quality when others don't buy.

How can one store liquor in grain silos?

. . . .
I don't know but this was a big scam unearthed during Congress rule in 2012.

It was all over the country since Punjab state is the biggest supplier of wheat to the whole nation.

One can.
There was no kind of corruption and scam that was humanly possible that was not practiced during Congress rule.

This is what a grain silo generally looks like:

How can anyone use this to store liquor?
