JF17 Thunder's New More potent superior Engine

Having a high power engine is not every thing, it should not be a "Fuel sucker"...like some old gen engine.

It will drain the money from PAF pockets in Smoke. So it is always wise decision to go with most economical engine. rather than a fuel thirsty engine.

Russian engines are Value for Money items.. Cheap , reliable and ok to maintain..

Western engine , expensive, realiable and expensive to maintain ..

Chinese engines... this one is a new born , have to wait and judge

And would you care to explain, how you concluded this? You donot even know what are the capabilities of upgraded Mig-29 (SMT Level). But you are much sure abt the capabilities of some fighter jet whose upgrade details are not even clear , which never seen a single combat.

Well if you simply wana conclude that Mig-29 will be history if JF-17 gets western avoinics, only because Paf will be operating this, then good for you to be in ur dreams.

The fact that JF-17 has to be the backbone of PAF and that other airforces like Egypt are showing interest in it shows pretty much how capable MIG 29 SMT really is.

SMT version is not tested just like JF-17, but JF-17 seems to be winning more numbers for sales than MIG 29.

Now Egypt, which operates large number of superior F-16s, why would they go for JF-17 if it was inferior or MIG 29 SMT was better.


Just because IAF MIG 29s will be upgraded sometime in future, doesn't mean that it is superior.

I can only have as much credible information as you may have. Both planes are not combat proven, but JF-17 has been winning numbers in sales.


The only thing that is stopping it's real market reach is the engines issue and assembly line issues.

Showing interest is different from ordering. Interest shown could be based on rumors as they have not placed any order uptill now.

Mig-29 is of different league. It was made to encounter f-16 and it has proved it's worth with time. Neither of them could be compared with jf17 as it is made for a different purpose.

west doesnt charge you more for nothing...their engines are more reliable, fuel efficient and have longer service lifes than the Russian counterparts.....that's why PAF still would still prefer to have RC-400 in JFT rather than RD-93

Please post Mig 29 and Mig 29SMT combat kills. Against western fighters like f-16.

F-16s have shot down Mig29.


But yea go ahead and prove how the MIG 29 has proved it's worth........

please check specification of both the planes
current jf17 is not even near to MIG 29 SMT level

radar, max speed, payload, engine on which bases you claim that jf17 is superior to mig 29 smt ?????

Aren't Western engines in fact cheaper to maintain since they don't require the same amount of maintenance as Russian engines? Western Engines are noted for their long life spans.

It is said:JF17 had rolled with the engine WS-13 months ago.I think the Reliability needs Verification.However,It tells to Russia,if you refuse to supply RD93 under pressure of India,wo have another choice.
to China,In my opinoin,it make use of RD-93 to start itself's Medium thrust engine project--WS13,which will be improved for Medium 5'th Multi-purpose fighter(double ws-13).

Indians can't let go underestimating Chinese products.

Engine hasn't come up yet and we have all these revelations about their engine quality and stuff like that.

Let it come, then say how much it is and how much not.
