JF17 AESA radar

Don't be disheartened, whether or not this is specifically for JF-17, it is a good sign, and the fact that the Chinese were confident enough to show it is also a good sign.

Not for JF-17。

Translation please.

The system‘s key features include a multi-channel active phased array with three operation modes of TWS、TAS and STT。With digital beam forming ability, the system can be applied to the technical studies of DBF、STAP、SAR and adaptive anti jamming。

@cirr l So we are a step closer to AESA for JF-17!

@Oscar l Solve this riddle pls.
Not following, what is the question?

AESA radar is one the cards but was delayed due to issue with cooling.

The radar on the front page, what is it?

AESA used by fighter is X band

One of many I suppose from China. The one for the JF may not look like what you see in the picture. But that is still a way off. Unless the issue with space for cooling equipment(not power) is resolved,

Wouldn't a more powerful engine be a requirement?

Nope. Space is.

For AESA that is.

They've hinted at a two seater Jf-17 development, perhaps something can be done along the way? Because the cockpit area would need to give up more space, and as such a lengthened nose/cone section would be ideal for AESA?

Nope, the Two seater will eat away into the fuel cells(where the avionics will take the space after being displaced by the second seat).
